Is chemical eng. a good course?

I wouldn't call it a course, its a field. There are lots of courses required for a degree. I completed mine in 1980 its a lot different now. But I've been able to do several different jobs with that education, project engineer, plant engineer, maintenance manage, and now I design equipment. So I think it is good preparation for a career in engineering.

There is a lot of homework, so if you don't enjoy it, it will be very tough to complete.
