You're doing too much ab exercise.

Work your abs 3-4 times per week, not 7.

Change up the routine, too.

Don't be afraid to do some heavy weighted ab training, too.

It's a muscle. Build it.

Most important, lose fat.

Abs only show when your body fat is low.

I'll take as long as it takes you to loose enough fat and to build your abs up. You ought to try doing crunches on a weight machine from a sitting position on the bench or a stool. You put the rope handles just over your shoulders and then, sitting straight up, you bend forward slightly. Use enough weight to make it difficult and do several sets of as many as you want. For general toning and strengthening use light weights and higher reps, for mass use heavier weights and lower reps. It's a very effective exercise. It'll really make your abs burn. Use the rope handle with the apex just behind your neck and the grips over your chest. Hold your abs tight while you do this. You can also work on your obliques with this same exercise.

An exercise ball! If you get it with the video and instruction cards it is amazing. Just by sitting on the ball you are working your abs by balancing. It truely is a terrific workout. The definition in your abs will surely show.

The best way to get your abs to show is to burn more fat off of them. Period. Even if you are dieting, you need to do cardiovascular exercise as well. Current suggestions say you should to 30 minutes of cardio on most days of the week. This will also kick start your metabolism to burn more fat. Of course, this is in addition to a well balanced diet. Also, constantly change your abdominal routine to keep your body "guessing". You can't get different results from the same exercises. Keep doing different exercises to force your body to recruit different muscles. You should see a difference in a matter of weeks.

if you know what bicycles are in the ab-exercise world, do bicycles too. my swim coach has us do
50crunches,
10 bikes, 10 crunches,
20 bikes, 10 crunches,
30 bikes, 10 crunches
up to 50 bikes and then back down to 10 and do another 50 crunches. do this and then do as many more crunches as you can. also, work on your crunch technique. a lot of people do them in such a way that they work out more of their neck than their tummy.

You might be more toned on one side than another because you do more activities with one side, but go to your local nutrishop and get big dog!
