I got Cockatiel's for Dummies and it has a lot of good info. A female that has molted from a baby, usually has a barbed like look look to the underside of their tail and a males is usually solid. Go to the library and check out what they have. Also, browse the book stores.

You don't want to breed them too soon and they (the ones you do breed) will want their own space with a lot of privacy. PLEASE, find out as much info as you can first before even considering it. Breeding isn't easy and requires a lot of your time and attention and hard work. Good luck.

cockatiels.com discusses different means to sex these birds. DNA tests are available which are just 20 bucks a pop They need a good pellet food with 10% fruits and veggies excluding avocado, chocolate, onions and some sources say grape seeds and any pits of fruits.10% seeds are ok. Chopped hard cooked egg with the shell is great for protein and extra calcium. Buy a nest box for cockatiels and nesting material. 8 to 12 months of age is usually the time they may start. 21-26 days from the last laid egg is when they hatch. Separate the mating pair from the rest. Let the parents feed their young. At about 5 weeks, weaning can begin and soft veggies even those found in baby food jars can help them graduate to the pelleted diet. All seed diets have been found to cause malnutrition. Hand taming all your birds would be ideal. This is just a start. Buy books and really research your project. Good luck and have a tweet year.

First of all please don't take offense but I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND at ALL that you try and breed your tiels. First of all- you don't seem to know anything about tiel, not even ur own- except they are mean and they are small- I would suggest you READ UP ON ALOT OF INFO about your tiels!!! Your tiels may be ready but you're not- take up some spelling too! I don't care if you find my answer rude-I feel bad for your poor birds...
