you can try reading the back of the video game before you purchase it. most of them are rated and only allow people over 17 to buy them and some are made especially for children. also if you google "video game reviews" it will bring up a bunch of video game sites for gamers, where you can get reviews and ratings and a bunch of other stuff you may be looking for.

If you read the back of the video game box it will tell you the rating of the game and the reason for the rating, i.e. violence, nudity, language, etc... If you need help there are usually guides on the case on how to read them, if you need help still then ask for an associate at the store you are buying the game from they know how to read the ratings and if they don't then they have no right to be working in video games...
