Life is like the weather, there are sunny days, rainy days, and violent storms, but no day is more beautiful then when the sun starts to break through the dark storm clouds and the rays shine light where before there was darkness, and sparkles in the drops of water left from the rain.

A familiar one:
Life is a journey of discovery.
And people often add: The trip is more important than the destination.
By the way: when you say "life is like a ------" this is a simile, not a metaphor.
A metaphor is when you say "Life IS a ------".

Like existence a water bottle will be warmth and welcoming, and soothing full of the right stuff. Like existence a water bottle will be flat and empty if no longer some thing is placed into it. Like existence a water bottle will be chilly and unconsoling if disregarded and under no circumstances tended to. existence existence...a water bottle will be cool and clean even as mandatory. Like existence water bottles can get old and spring a leak. ...!!!

That's pretty good. Or, life is like a rose. It starts out as a small bud and grows into a big beautiful rose. Then as time passes it begins to wilt and petals begin to fall to the ground, and eventually dies when its time has come.
We all start out small and grow into beautiful people. As time passes we grow more intelligent and learn with experience. Then we begin to slow down as we get older and eventually wilt and our petals fall to the ground, like a rose.
