Because people care so deeply about their religion that it's easier here than on other sites (not counting politics!) to provoke us into feeding the trolls. I can't imagine that in the Knitting thread, people would be as infuriated to be told that acrylic yarn was just as good as cotton as they are in the Religion thread to be told that one god is as good as another :-)
