OOOOO I KNOW THIS ONE!!! I'm ALMOST qualified for international competition (FINA World's and Olympics) So for swimmers (me) It's speed and technique a diver would not be able to reach the speed of a race swimmer. A diver is about execution and presision they have to do their flips and turns PREFECT with little to no splash on entry. We are built differently and we use different skills and muscles. It is difficult to reach top speeds in water but it is also difficult to do routines in the couple of seconds before water entry.
So to anwser your question race swimmers are about speed and divers are about precision.
