Cats CAN be trained to heel and they CAN be leash trained. *sigh* Some people just don't want to put the time into it or just think cats are too stupid to do it. I see seevral people around my neighborhood that walk their cats along with their dogs and they do fine. One lady walks her cat with her 2 dogs and we usually are walking at the same time so I see her cat stop when she does along with the dogs. It just takes more time and patience. Here's a site to help you with training:

I don't know how to train a cat to heel. But my cat stops when I do when we go out for walkies. He also stops when I say "no." And I can't precisely remeber when he began to do this becuase years ago when he just started to walk with me in halter and leash, he would just lead me where he wanted to go and I'd pull him to a stop when I wanted him to stop. Sorry I'm not much help.

Hi there...to train the cat to heel, just hold a food treat in front of him/her and start walking while say "heel" as they follow you. Stop every few steps and then offer the treat then increase the distance a few more steps at a time. You have to be repetitive with this for 10 minutes per day so they soon learn to understand what "heel" means. Soon your kitty will be walking by your side.

Kneel down and say heel at the same time you hold out a treat (Three Dog Bakery's We Pitty the Kitties Freeze Dried Alaskan Salmon works great). Pet and praise him when he does come. Initially you will have to give the treat everytime, but eventually get to the point that you do not do it everytime and he comes for the praise and affection (and the possibility of a treat). Sort of like training a dog!

the fact that you've got it on a leash is a major kudos to you as mine would just look at me and be like, "and just what do you think you're going to do with THAT?"
Cats aren't untrainable, but I assume it would take a bit more patience as well, some breeds aren't eager to please as you'd like. It's not impossible though, even though she doens't like the leash, my cat still fetches, so...
my guess would be treats and incentives and lots of praise.

cats shouldn't be on a leash to begin with and cats are not dogs.
most cats weren't meant to be on leashes and they don't like leashes so your cat isn't the kind of cat that can go around being walked on a leash.

Get a dog...Cats dont listen to commands like dogs do. And mostly all cats hate being on a leash.

Cats do not obey orders and cannot be led on a leash. Get a dog or get real!

umm just to tell you. but cats aren't "dumb" and obedient like dogs. they don't normally do things they don't want to do. so unless u give them a treat, they won't do it. One question. Why do u want to walk ur cat anyway? Get a dog if u want to do that, they'll do more than heel.
