Is the word "de" pronounced "jee" or "dee"?

How do you pronounce it in BRAZILIAN Portuguese.

I think I can say that I speak Portuguese but what you have just asked (and similar stuff) is still my nightmare. THEY (Brazilians) don't know how to explain it to you. When asked, being immediately confused by your question, they will reply dee, yet if you ask them to make an example they will do it saying jee trying to persuade you it was dee - it's the same (would be their final conclusion).
My opinion is that one should say dee ONLY when stressing something, all other cases - JEE. If you need further help, I shall be glad to try to give my best...
