Does anyone know if college kids take cruises this time of year? We want to take a Southern Caribbean cruise March 11 and don't want the ship overrun with college kids. I would think if any that Carnival is the party ship over Royal. Any thoughts or experiences?

March is a very popular time of year to cruise for everyone. However, there will probably be fewer college kids on a southern caribbean cruise than on one to the western or eastern caribbean. Many college kids won't spend the extra money to fly to Puerto Rico for the cruise. Generally the longer and more expensive the cruise, the fewer college students there will be. Of course there are bound to be a couple because Royal does get it's fair share of them. If you decide to go, I hope you have a good time

The 2 middle weeks of March is spring break for the southern states and the midwest. East & west coast takes theirs in April. Had a seminar in Alcapulco acoule years ago the end of March. It was cancelled because a lot of people couldnt get flights unless they had booked in advance. There were quite a few college kids there and families.

The southern caribbean isnt as popular with them like the other 7 day cruises, so it wont be as bad. It is a popular time and you may find prices a bit higher because of the spring break. Go the first week of March and it wont be bad at all. Check with a good travel agent. You don't save money by going thru the cruise line or doing it yourself on the internet.

As a travel agent, I usually give my clients some on board credit or drink tickets, use a discount coupon, put them in with a group rate, etc., especially if they know what they want and I don't have to do a lot of the work on it.

If you want to avoid the college/family crowds, you should book another month for your trip. Check out www.vacationstogo.com for deals on other dates.

If you must travel in March, consider other cruise lines such as Norwegian and Princess. They will have less young people due to the cost.

Most of the college kids/families travel Carnival.

We have taken Caribbean cruises both Carnival and Royal Caribbean lines.

The RC is definitely more upscale. Carnival is like a frat-party.
There are always a good number of young people and families with younger children on the Carnival line.

We are taking 15 people on the 03/11 sailing of the Conquest. We took 20 people on the Ecstasy last year. Our family loves to cruise.

I went on a royal caribbean cruise in march a few years ago... we didnt have a lot of college kids but there was a big group of high school spring breakers that were terribly annoying! I think the more that you spend on the trip the less likely there will be college kids on it because they cant afford it.
