Does it compare to any other drinks?

It's basically unaged whiskey.
It's got some kind of corn flavor that you're not going to get in vodka (that's distilled from grain), but doesn't have the oaky, vanilla character from being aged.
Just make sure whomever you get it from will take a drink of it themselves...first.

Stick your toungue on a hot stove burner. this simulates moonshines effect on your mouth. Proper moonshine is so high in alcohol content the alcohol overpowers your tastebuds. It's only smooth if you're used to drinking gasoline or other solvents. It also makes a great carb cleaner for your car!
