Technically, it is not impossible. It matters how much watermelon you eat and how much water you drink. The human stomach can only hold so much (varies by individual).
So if you try to eat a whole 5-pound watermelon and then try to drink an entire gallon of water (and i strongly recommend you do NOT try this), you're very likely going to run into problems. Your body's first line of defense will be to try to get rid of the excess. In other words: it's all comin' back out the way it came. If a person who does this tries to resist the urge to vomit, they could end up with ruptured organs, damaged esophagus, etc.
However, if you eat a small piece of watermelon and then have a cup of water, i don't imagine you'll be running into much difficulty.

Never heard of that before.
Watermelons are in nature an excellent source of vitamins A, C, and B6. They are also a great source of potassium, and extremely low in sodium. Watermelons are a great snack for both children and adults, for the reason that they contain practically no fat.

that's one of the most rediculous things I've ever read. the flesh of a watermelon (the red part) is probably 90%+ water. i think your friend is having a good laugh at your expense.

It is totally a superstition. water+water= just water. And I am astonished that why this superstition does not exist in case of cucumber having same water percentage
