Buddha said that for millions of years, humans were animals. Now as humans, we still have animal left over in us. It is the path to enlightenment that is the next step in evolution when humans will evolve into Buddhas. Buddha is a title, not a name of a person.

The Buddha teaches REBIRTH and ACCEPTS that evolution exists but the MIND goes forward in rebirth, it doesn't evolve like the scientific definition of evolution. It takes good behavior to develop the karma to take a human rebirth, then more good karmic result to take one in which you're exposed to the Dharma, and even a better karmic result in order to get a good lama to guide you on your way.

You're right "Buddha" is a title meaning "Awakened One".

Yes... you are right. Buddha said that there is no beginning or end to this world because the energy and matter are recycling all the time. Even though Buddha never commented on this matter, creationism is out of the question. Buddhism thought tolerance among other religions that is way Buddhists do not openly speak against creationism.

Buddhism also says that we came from a primeval swamp too, so they were right there. I don't know if Buddhism was first but it was certainly one of the first to state this.
