I have made two payments to a hospital to pay off an amount that my insurance didn't pay. They deposited the payment then sent me to a collections company. I was told if I attempted to make some kind of payments the Hospital cound not send me to an collection agency. Is this flase information?

Unless you made a payment plan with the hospital, and got it in writing, and followed through with your end of the deal, than they can pretty much do what they want.
Best bet is to write the collection agency, disputing the debt. Make sure you put it in writing!

I think it depends...if the hospital told you that...then they shouldn't have sent you there. I would call them back and ask what in the world is going on. I know some hospitals that do make "payment arrangements" But, I don't live in California either....hope you get it worked out.

It depends what state you are in. Laws are different everywhere.
