The rule I was taught was 1 cube per cup. I find the powder and concentrate make a better base than the cubes. You can find these in any grocery. If you are making a soup remember that the chicken, vegetables are going to contribute to the flavor so you might want to use a little less bouillon cubes Good luck EDIT: how does the guy with the shoes end up everywhere?

It can be. Chicken stock would be made with the carcass of a bird or even the bones, salt, and a large amount of water. (I'm sure other people have better ways of making chicken stock, but that's the essentials of it)... but chicken boullion will give you a similar tasting broth.
