Putting Neosporin on it was good, especially if you were able to bandage it. But after about 24 hours, let him take care of it himself. He'll want to lick it a lot and that's good, 'cause that's how animals keep wounds clean. It will heal as much as it's going to by itself, but I'm sure it will take some time.

Infection is the biggest problem. Besides him licking it, you can help keep it clean by using a mixture of half water and half hydrogen peroxide and either rinsing the paw with it or letting it soak for a short time. Make sure you don't use straight hydrogen peroxide because that will damage the tissue. Watch for increased swelling or increased pain or pus in the wound. Any of those and you MUST take him to the vet IMMEDIATELY! If he was playing on it a little today, though, that's a good sign.

Besides all that, just love on him a LOT!

The first and obvious answer is Get Your Pooch To The Vet Pronto. If this happened yesterday and he is still bleeding, he may require stitches.

In the meantime, try to keep his paw clean and elevated to keep blood flow to a minimum. A swollen paw may be a sign of simple inflammation from pain, but it may also indicate infection.

If you cannot afford a visit to the vet, then i would recommend asking friends/family for financial assistance if at all possible. Call around and ask if there are any vets that can provide you with payment options (some now, some later... that sort of deal). If you had a son/daughter/sibling who lost a good chunk of his/her hand, you'd want to get them to a doctor ASAP.

This sounds quite dangerous. He demands to peer a vet ASAP. Actually, when you've got an emergency vet regional, please take him there (such a lot cities have one vet that allows you to manage after hour emergencies). Normally, I do not inform ppl to run off to a vet the first thing, however truthfully, this demands vet care. The undeniable fact that his paw is swollen suggests me that he's in plenty of ache, and the paw is already badly inflamed. Neosporin can not aid this kind of wound. In truth, when you seem on the tube, it says it simplest is helping minor cuts. Go forward and wrap the paw in a sterile bandage. You can get the sterile bandage at any pharmacy, drug retailer, or walmart. The wound demands to stick included till you get him to the vet. Also, youngster aspirin is viewed secure for puppies, and it's going to aid with the ache. of direction, get him to the emergency vet first, but when for a few motive you reside within the core of nowhere and the closest emergency vet is quite some distance (like 10 hours away), pass forward and wrap it and aid him with the ache.

seriously? would you be missing half of the skin on your foot and put some cream on it and still have to walk on it and not go to the dr???????????????????? you're being cruel. if it's bleeding and he's in pain the better question is why haven't you taken him to the vet? this can become seriously infected and he could have other issues that will be way more costly and painful for your dog if left untreated. in some states you could be arrested for animal cruelty for not taking him to the vet. i think it's a great idea that this is a law. you're dog needs vet care, be a responsible pet owner. take him to the vet. why would you even need to ask this?

colored discharge, swelling, redness...all signs of infection. You should take him to the vet, unless you know how to administer shots. If you have a local farmers co-op or mercantile near you you can pick up some penicillan (pen-g-max) and cut the dose down to your dogs size and inject into muscle. But that's a crap-shoot, because you could kill him if you get him in the blood stream. You should take him to the vet.

Poor baby! Neosporin is good but I would take him to the vet just to be on the safe side. He may need antibiotics. Give him lots of TLC!!!

You may just want to call the vet and ask them what to do. Your dog may need stitches.

If it doesn't stop bleeding, smells bad, looks bad, and your dog is in a bad mood, take him to the vet immediately. Do the same thing you would do if your palm gets that injured.

i would take him to the vet beacause the vet will give you some stuff to put on it that wont make him sick if he licks it. also do not put neosporin on it if he is licking his wound because the medicine might make him sick and the licking will help it heal.
