Recently I have had a few episodes of feeling drunk, ie whoosy head, balance off, vision messed up, etc. but yet have drank NO alcohol. They don't happen often and none of the episodes have lasted more than 30 seconds but I'm stumped as to what can cause this. I've searched everywhere I can think of to no avail. Anyone else experience this or have any idea what is going on with me? Not sure if this is something to be really concerned about or not.

That's a tough one to pin point. Are you taking any presciption medications, birth control pills, diet pills or herbal extracts? Is there a change in hearing or headaches? Any diseases or medical conditions run in the family? Two things come to mind. SVT is a heart condition whereby your heart beats so fast that there is a decrease in blood flow to your brain and cause some of those symptoms. The other is you may have something neurological going on or an acute hypertensive crisis. The last one usually will last for more then 30 seconds.

Your symptoms should be of some concern, since its not normal to have those feelings in the first place. It may get to a point of it interferring with your daily routine. Do you need to rush to the ER? No...you may want to set up an appointment with your doctor if it continues. A more detailed assessment might reveal what the actual cause is, which is why I was asking those questions in the beginning. Hope this helps. Feel free to email me if you have any other questions.

Are you on any other medications? Could be a side effect of a medication. Any other medical conditions? Are you a diabetic? High blood pressure? Do the episodes only happen when you've been sitting down or lying down and go to stand up too fast? Do you have diabetes or heart disease in your family? Anyway, you must be concerned about it so why don't you just see a doctor to be safe and ease your worries.

Did you maybe sit for a long time without moving and then get up quickly? I get that every once in awhile, sometimes it feels like youre about to pass out. Its just blood rushing to your head all at once from the change of positions.

I dont know if that helps, but hopefully thats all it is. If its not that Id go and ask a doctor.
