The japanese language uses three alphabets, katakana, hiragana, and kanji. They will sometimes use romanji (what we are using right now) but rarely. Katakana and kiragana are both syllabic alphabets, meaning that each symbol is a single syllable. Kanji is a pictogram language based on the Chinese alphabet, and each symbol is a single word. Due to the sheer number of symbols in kanji, it would be next to impossible to present them all here, and katakana and hiragana would be better learned through something that you can regularly refer back to, like a primer on the Japanese language. The interesting thing, though, is that if you read a Japanese book, you could find all three of these alphabets in a single sentence, and maybe even have romanji as well.
