I think atheists are people of great faith.

They believe the entire wonderful universe came into being all by itself from the smallest subatomic particle to the the most immense galaxy to the amazing complexity of the human mind to the love between a mother and child.

Even if you do not believe in God, I do know that God believes in you.

With love in Christ.

You choose not to believe in God- I have to tell you that every human being has been born with an emptiness that can only be filled by God- the creator and redeemer of the world. The church is not the building. The church are the people that chose to worship God now, Everyone will bow to Him one time or another, and I pray you will chose now.
I am not a person that spends money and goes to a sports event very often, because I am not a sports fan, but I would never ask people to use a sports arena for something else, so please do not ask Christians who love the Lord not to have somewhere to go to worship. Thanks

I just have a comment in the useless part. I can't convince you that there's a God. That's a battle that's all your own. But the church is very useful. Sociologists will tell you for instance that the spreading of the church in Africa will cut back on AIDS more than gov't money ever will. The church promotes morals, education, and arts - all necessary to society. The church gives money to those in need, provides food and service to the homeless, and orphanages around the world for children. The church is the singlemost important organization this world has. I don't care if you don't believe in God - you can't deny the importance of the church.

I do love some of the church structures, like the very very old Church's and cathedrals, A lot of them were built with small works of art in the carvings, the handy work of the era is amazing.

But i do agree with new Church's being built, it would be awesome to see them with housing for the homeless or soup kitchens and or clothing distributions within them.
So instead of just a house of worship it can be more community minded and open there hearts and doors to the poor and homeless.

Blessings ALD.

It's only your opinion there is no God. God exists, even if only because Man invented him/her. Churches serve a social purpose, also. In some communities, they do a great deal of good work. In my town, they feed the hungry and house the homeless. I do not go to church, btw. I do give money to some of the food projects--1 in particular that spends every dime on the poor. No administrative costs at all from my contribution.

Well it's a breeding ground for hypocrites. Let them have their churches. I agree with you. But there is nothing we can do about it. I really just look at the Churches like that's where some people go to convince themselves they are going to an imaginary Place they call heaven. But what do i know, they call me an idiot.

A, What if God is essentially nondetectable?

If God is essentially nondetectable, it must therefore be the case that he does not interact with our universe in any way.

You as an atheists you would argue that if God does not interact with our universe at all, it is of no importance whether he exists or not.

A thing which cannot even be detected in principle does not logically exist.

Can you prove there is no God? Thought not! Boy there sure are a lot of churches for this magically imaginary God we believe in. Maybe there is some truth to it and God has been revealed to us and that is why we follow him and there are so many buildings!

Everything you'll build will not stand forever. I hope you acknowledge the fact that no earthly structure is going to remain for eternity. So all those "useful" structures are based on and focus on material things; while churches focus on that which lasts forever: the spiritual.

One day, the "useful" structures will be completely useless, but it will be too late for some people, when they get the unpleasant surprise that they were wrong, having built their life on material things.

I know this one!!!!! Let's build a sports arena for a useless sports team that doesn't win games so the fans can complain. Since tax money is not paying for the churches, why do you care so much? Maybe its cause God is convicting your heart and you feel guilty for not entering the churches?
