It really depends on age and overall dental health of your son. It could be canker sores, abscess fistulas, maybe even an allergic reaction to something he ate, or something all together different. At any rate, take him to the dentist for an examination to be on the safe side. Then you will know exactly what you're dealing with and have the medication and knowledge to treat it correctly. The only thing I can tell you with absolute certainty is that there is something wrong. Good luck!

White sores on the gums that are painful and bleed can result from several different things. This includes dental abscesses which result from infection. Best advice is to see a dentist soon.

Those sound like canker sores, which can be caused by improper mouth care or irritation from braces or a dental appliance. Your son should brush and floss regularly, and if the sores are painful, have him rinse his mouth with warm salt water until they heal.

could be a yeast infection in his mouth. He should eat no sugar and try to eat yogurt for a week or so.
Or it could be canker sores, they can be very painful but are harmless. It sometimes means a vitamin B deficiency. He can gargle with tincture of myrrh (available in tores).

one thing he can do and might be good to do even when his gums are healed. Make a mixture of peroxide, baking soda, and water (approximately equal amounts) plus a dash of salt and rub on gums for a couple minutes.

It could be cankor sores, however you really need to take him to a dentist or a dr. to be diagnosed. It's possible it isn't, and it might be something else entirely.....
