God says that we can do whatever we want, but then gives us a whole bunch of rules that we must follow, oh and the punishment part as a deterent to using free will. That is like giving your kid a car, but not letting them drive it, oh but you get to drive it (as God murdered on massive levels throughout the bible and covetted someone else's wife and got her pregnant - typical God stating "do as I say, not as I do"). Not a good gift that God supposedly gave to us, he gives it and then puts lots of rules on it and threats of massive pain and suffering if we do what we want.

Davy Jones: I know, just trying to get Christians to question their faith, as a former good RC (Roman Catholic). They state they are such strong believers, but have never questioned their faith or broken it apart.

Moonman: Actually most/all of the conflicts throughout history, including now are due to religion, not on "free will".

I agree. This is right up there with "Original Sin". You're like 10 years old when someone lays on you that you "owe" God for what He did for you.

Oh right. You make us flawed, you give us free will, we blow it, you "sacrifice" your only son, and now, like 2000 years later you tell the next generation they owe you. What garbage.

God does not say we can do anything that we want. Where in the Bible did he say that? Free will is our choice- we decided to not obey the 10 commandments. God loved us so much that He sent His son to die for us so that can return and have a relationship with Him. By the way, God did not covet Joseph's wife. Jesus had to be born of a woman, so that he could be fully man and still fully man- the Holy Spirit came upon her, Joseph accepted that, God's law is to be obey, but the only way we can obey it is through the sacrificial death of Christ. If God expected us to obey his laws without this gift, then everyone would go to hell, because it is impossible. If there were no laws people would not know that they sin, The law points to sin, and Christ's death and resurrection gives us new life, and eternity with God.

YOu got it right. That's basically it.

And in school they try and get you to think and express yourself and exercise your free will and if you don't do the work AS THE TEACHER DEMANDS you get an F.

Try an write a PRO COMMUNIST paper in a Government or History class in High School and see what kind of a grade it gets you. Go on, PROVE MARX right and see what your teacher will give you as a grade.

Write down about how Evil America is because of salvery and see if that gets you an A in American History in High School or Grammar School.

If you deviate from the TEXT BOOK DEFINITIONS you are at odds with the class, which is to ROTE and RESPOND from the text, not from outside sources.

If YOUR definitions of Communism do not match the text book, you are WRONG. It doesn't matter if Harvard, Cornell, Oxford or even the CIA backs up what you say. If it ain't in the 12th grade WOrld History and Government text book of your school, it ain't reality.

Yes, God gave us free will, but those who are humane and have compassion for others, and concern for the world around them, would not think of harming others. They respect the rights of other singular beings. If all of a sudden, the Justice System shut down, and the police were not around, I wouldn't go on a rampaging spree, but many others would. The choice is yours. This could happen some day. What would happen?

Jesus says that the one who sins is a slave to sin. People who are trapped in selfishness aren't free - they aren't free at all! They are walking automatons, enslaved to their own desires, enslaved to their physical bodily needs. It is an existence not unlike an animal's.

"If I set you free, you will be truly free," Jesus says in the Gospel of John. There is no person freer than one who has been set free by the gospel. Such people are free to become really and truly human - a creature born again in the image of the Living God.

God lets us do what we want to. We can choose to break rules, but we still have to face the consequences. The truth is that there are eternal consequences to actions. We can be forced to make the right actions, but then we learn nothing and only reap the benefits of the good actions. God allows us to make mistakes so we can learn. He sent Christ, because he knew that we would make mistakes. He is smart, not contradictory. Freedom, does not entail the lack of responsibility, yet in my opinion, the belief that it does permeates our society and is leading to many of the conflicts we see arising.

People who violate the 10 Commandments are living proof that people don't know what's good for them. The 10 C's are designed to allow us to get the most out of this life.

NOPE

God is eternal having neither beginning of days or end of life, a Spirit fire or light called life. The Word begins with thought from conscious awareness I am, acquiring wisdom to reason thought to self with the Word. The Word was with God and the Word was God. This wisdom of thought with words is not any substance or matter but Spirit, the Holy Spirit. God is One, by Himself or alone with His Words the Holy Spirit. This timeless existence of reasoning wanted company and God’s thoughts turn to creating company or sons. Sons to behold, abide with, and communion with. God discovered love, not of the thought, but of the sons He envisioned. God felt this love, the magnificence of it and wanted His sons to love Him. God realized He could not create true love or forced it upon a being, but true love would only manifest in sons of freewill. The wisdom of God also knew it would be necessary to govern sons of freewill by laws that are fair and righteous, to hold them accountable. God was willing to risk rejection and rebellion against the law. Sons of freewill could choose not to love Him but must obey the law. The sons would need a place to abide, explore, and grow. God created the heavens and the earth, His kingdom.
