Take one jar of cinnamon sticks, put in spice grinder. Grind. But, it doesn't taste as good as the preground stuff. Best answer is to buy a fresh jar of the highest quality ground stuff you can get, and use that.

I recommend that you buy the cinnamon preground. I use to work in a spice grinding plant and you can never grind it fine enough at home. Also the cinnamon used in cinnamon sticks is usually from a lower grade cinnamon plant. When buying preground the darker cinnamon is the higher grade.

Basically, just get cinammon sticks. Place it in a ziploc bag and zip it tightly. Make sure all air is gone. Then crush it, using a book, plate, whatever you want!

Grind cinnamon sticks in a "whirligig" coffee grinder. Experiment with different cinnamons available online (my favorite www.penzeys.com)
