The world is overpopulated. AIDS is rampant. Should priests and religious leaders who forbid their flocks from using protection be tried in the Hague for Crimes Against Humanity?

This question occurred to me while viewing the documentary "Darwin's Nightmare" - a must see film regardless of your religious or political persuasions.

I have to agree with you. Unfortunately.. religious folk think that it's an excuse to let teens or anyone else for that matter have sex while not being married, etc. They see it more from a moral point of view. I really think that the problem is.... why do people let religion control them to such an exaggerated degree? If my daughter is a teenage and a faithful going church goer...... I would still put her on birth control and certainly ask her to use condoms if she ever happens to slip. I don't care what anybody says.. I'd rather be safe than sorry. When I get to heaven, I'll have to deal with this issue directly with God.!!!

Religious leaders and priests should mind thier own business, when it comes to the marriage bed, or peoples personal relationships, and feminine hygene.
The birth control pill and condom, prevents conception, so there is nothing wrong with them, other than the side effects the birth control brought. And the celibate Priests, have no business telling mothers, how to raise thier children, I might add.

Nope- a checklist from a particular raconteur isn't a appropriate assertion, and is even much less ability than a Gerneral assembly ruling. so as many biased comments simply by fact the UN lapdogs produce, they'll all finally end up being meaningless simply by fact the only place something significant happens is interior the seucrity council the place the Arab bloc isn't able to impression the balloting througgh weight of numbers. The UN prevalent assembly has ebcome a comedian tale with the only element counting being who you prefer to be acquaintances with and snug as much as.

Youre absolutley right... But it is not just Starvation and disease that should be taken into account... There are so many children born who wander this life unloved uncared for and unwanted Bill Hicks had it right when he talked about the Food Air deal... People who just pump out babies without even really wanting them. Life is a gift that you give to a child it should be celebrated. Not taken so lightly.

Many things the "church" (whichever one) has said was wrong...turned out to be not so wrong. And vice-versa.

Isn't it possible that contraception is fine and dandy with God and churches are prohibiting something that is actually not prohibited? Based on their track record...they've allowed many wrong things and prohibited many things that don't matter to God.

There's nothing wrong with deciding when and if to have children. We have free will, and that means we have to be responsible in our actions. Why would we leave procreation up to the whims of biology?

I think it's up to the individual to decide whether his/her church is really correct and decide which rules to follow. You never know--sometimes, when the rules change, you find out you could have been doing something all along.

Think for yourselves! It's not a religion's place to think for you!

Yes, they should. There is only so much space on this planet that we can live. We don't need anymore people in this place. The more people we get, the more of a hardship the rest of us face. Stop having children!

Please can they. The pope is a good example. More than a third of all his subjects live in the Third World. Knowingly he and those before him have been aware of an action that will save thier lives but have consistantly demanded of them not to do it.

Well since they do preach a 100% effective alternative, no. I personally think that they are a little uptight about sex, but you can't argue that you can't get pregnant or an STD if you don't do it.
