How was it that the prophet known as Zacharias, the father of John the Baptist, died? Does anyone know? Thanks!

I always thought that it never said anything about His death, but I was doing a word search on Zacharias and found this scripture:

Luke 11:50-51
That the blood of all the prophets, which was shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation;

51 From the blood of Abel unto the blood of Zacharias, which perished between the altar and the temple: verily I say unto you, It shall be required of this generation.

The references from verse 51 shows II Chronicles 24:20-21,
but when I looked at the above verse again, it seemed to be to bee naming the first prophet that died to that last prophet that just died.
I feel that John's father had been killed in the temple for some reason, though nothing else was mentioned in the gospel.

The Bible does not record any information about how the father of John the Baptist died. I would suspect, as he was very old at the time of John's birth, that he eventually died of "old age". But neither scripture or history record the time or manner of his death.

He was smitten with painful farts, for he was elderly. And he said, let me now die in peace for I have seen the holy baby. The next day, he had a relapse, having been to the several doctors, and their prescriptions conflicted. The conflict caused him pain and so, having seen the holy baby, he said, let me now die in peace. Or was it the day before, I forget.

What an odd question.
