If we could walk in the Holy Spirit with our mind and heart on Christ with moral excellence, kindness, self-control, perseverence, godliness, with knowledge and above all love then if these qualities are increasing we will be useful and fruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
The Holy Spirit is the teacher of all things of Christ and He will make us holy and perfect and ready to see Christ.

You said it, "Be ye therefore perfect, as your Father which art in Heaven is Perfect."
Yes it is possible, by a quote from the same source, "Of myself I am nothing, the Father doeth the works."

Peace!
It simply means we should strive for holiness. Yes, there many holy men and women of the Catholic Church. We have a long list of saints. There are many more who have not been declared as saints but may be considered as saints.

No.
"Holiness" comes from several Hebrew words with different meanings.
"Kasher" refers to the purity of food most of the time. This is the root of "kashrut" law and our word "kosher".
"Kadosh" was the word used whenever something was pulled out of a community and set apart for use by or for God. The high priest wore a head plate on his turban that read "kadosh", meaning "holy". He was pulled out of the rest of the priests and set apart for special service and authority.
Animals are pulled out of their flocks for offering as a tithe, and therefore they are "holy", set apart from the rest for a special purpose.
Israel was pulled from the rest of the world and sanctified by a special covenant with God. They are a "holy" nation, set aside for a special purpose. This is why they're called "the chosen people". Their purpose is to be a light to the rest of the world.
Jesus was speaking to Jews when he said this and he was reminding them of their special status in the world conferred on them by God himself. He encouraged them to be "perfect" in carrying out this role so as not to make God look bad and bring shame on God and on Israel.
(Christians have never adopted this role. Our covenant with God is different. The best description of our covenant that I've found is in Jeremiah 31:31-34.)

Perfection is necessary. If you haven't been perfect all your life, you can't save yourself.
If you can't save yourself, you need someone else to save you.
Rom 6:23
23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
(from New International Version)
Choose carefully..it's your eternal life.

The Lord is the author of all beings - living and non-living and is seated in our hearts, and is guiding us onward in the direction of our destiny. the finished universe is shifting under His coaching and plan. we are in uncomplicated terms gadgets appearing our roles he's given us to play. for this reason, we would desire to continuously all be grateful to Him for each thing. If we compliment yet another man or woman for doing 'sturdy', we are actual inflating that man or woman's ego. for this reason the word " compliment be to God", which skill we are telling the guy who God is appearing via him. So the guy's ego keeps to be grounded. however the better understanding is, even while he appearing as though he's doing 'undesirable' to you, that's extra advantageous to assert "compliment be to God" because of the fact unquestionably, he's helplessly doing God's will. because of the fact what's 'sturdy' & what's 'undesirable' - each and every thing is a concoction of the techniques. something may be 'sturdy' for you yet poison for yet another and 'undesirable' for you would be 'sturdy' for yet another. in case you assert something 'undesirable' has befell which skill you assert the God is purposely doing undesirable issues to you. if certainty be told, God is optimal, God is completed and each thing that comes from God is likewise perfect and finished. purely we lack a perfect inventive and prescient. If something 'undesirable' is befell to us, that's for our purification, God is attempting to let us know something, that "My newborn, what you're doing isn't for religious boost, for this reason replace the direction" for this reason we would desire to continuously continuously compliment the Lord for notwithstanding journey we are dealing with. In Islam that's what they say in each and every thing that occurs: Alhamdulillah - compliment be to God Inshallah - God prepared Subahnallah - God is great Rahamdullah - God is all merciful and sort

We are bieng made perfect. The perfect Christ is living in us and so we are bieng made perfect. "He that has begun a good work in you will work to perfect it." I don't remember the verse, only the words. When we are no longer in these un perfect bodies and have recieved our spiritual bodies then we are perfected.

our righteousness are like "filthy rags" compared to God's.
Holiness is acheivable, perfection.............. not so much.
But the whole point of that, is that we exemplify God and let our light so shine before men.
Only God knows yor heart, he is the only one that knows how much effort we give into becoming "christ-like"

Jesus said I only speak the words I hear my Father say! our option does not matter if its not in line with the TRUTH. All thru out the bible (Gods Word) Jesus says, after he heals people ,he says go and sin no more! least a worst thing come a pond you . Why, Sin leads to death! Recently, I have started studying the word of God Pertaining to Walking by the Spirit , because I want to have a closer relationship with God, I want him to reveal his truth to me, and the word says he can not lie, it is impossible for God to lie. so there for I can trust what he says. listen, why did God send Jesus to the earth to die a death on a cross to take away our sins, remember he never sinned! now our flesh has a sin nature , that's all it knows, but when we received Jesus Christ as our Lord and savior we ,repented of our sins, and God for gave us, he threw our sins as far as the east to the west, never to be remembered again. when we got born again we receive the Holy Spirit, Gods word says, when he the spirit of truth comes ,he will guide us and lead us into all truth.
and also, Therefore leaving the elementary teaching about the Christ, let us press on to maturity, not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God, of instruction about washings and laying on of hands, and the resurrection of the dead and eternal judgment. And this we will do, if God permits. For in the case of those who have once been enlightened and have tasted of the heavenly gift have been made partakers of the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, and then have fallen away, it is impossible to renew them again to repentance, since they again crucify to themselves the Son of God and put Him to open shame. For ground that drinks the rain which often falls on it and brings forth vegetation useful to those for whose sake it is also tilled, receives a blessing from God; but if it yields thorns and thistles, it is worthless and close to being cursed, and it ends up being burned" When walking with God daily, we can please him, he will give us the power to not sin. Galatians 5:16 So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. We are Holy because of him, When a child is born, the child looks like he parent, when we are born again recreated spirit we are a new creation made in the image of God. Holy. Romans 13:14
Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh. Only by walking in the power of the Holy Spirit is this possible and listen to his voice not the voice of the flesh. The word say the Spirit is willing but the flesh is weak! Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. We are to take up our cross and follow Jesus example humble our selfs and put on the new nature, that's been born of God. 2 Corinthians 2:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
We are a new creation, we are born of God, he does not sin , he is perfect, and he says ,1 Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children 2 and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. 3 But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God's holy people. 4 Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving. 5 For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person--such a man is an idolater--has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. 6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God's wrath comes on those who are disobedient. 7 Therefore do not be partners with them. 8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light 9 (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) 10 and find out what pleases the Lord. 11 Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. 12 For it is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret. 13 But everything exposed by the light becomes visible, 14 for it is light that makes everything visible. This is why it is said: "Wake up, O sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you." 15 Be very careful, then, how you live--not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord's will is. 18 Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit. 19 Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, 20 always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. 21 Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.
