In verse 37, Jesus was talking about himself being the one giving life-giving blessing, in promising to give the Holy Spirit to all who believe.
In verse 38 the living water refered to Eternal life. The two go together hand-in-hand. When ever the Holy Spirit is accepted, he brings eternal life. The Holy Spirit empowered Jesus' followers at Pentecost and has since been available to all who believe in Jesus as Savior.

To have life and survive, you have to have water. Jesus said he was the living water and if you accept him you would never thirst again. He was talking about the giving of His Holy Spirit that would live inside of each individual who accepts him. So if His spirit iis n you then that is what you will give out to others, that same living water that is in you.
If I had a cup of water, and you were thirsty, I would give you a drink. Well, we are spiritually thirsty and Jesus gave us living

It is symbolic and deals with salvation that comes about when accept him as your lord and savior. It is truly an amazing experience when you open your self up to him and you have that connection with him that tells you without a shadow of a doubt that he means what he promised.
I pray that you will find him. Jesus is real and I am living proof of that! Thank you Jesus for saving my life, and putting all those people's destinies at just the right time and place. You are truly amazing!

The two most prevalent symbols of God's presence and purity are air and water.
The wind was considered to be evidence of God's movement, our own breath was considered to be the life (and wind) of our own body, and when Jesus spoke of being born again in John 3, he added, "no one knows where the wind blows, and no one knows on whom this life will next be bestowed".
Also, after his resurrection, he appeared among them and blew on them and said "Receive the Holy Spirit" (John 21:22), meaning received God's own breath. (The Hebrew for "wind" and "spirit" are identical.)
Water was the means given the Jews for purifying themselves, but it was always external. You had to go down to the river to wash away impurities. This was the tradition that led to baptism.
Upon being born again, the idea was that purifying water would come from within and heal from the inside out (hence "baptism of the Holy Spirit).

I believe that once a person is saved, he has the ability to share that salvation with others. Therefore when he goes forth and shares the word with others, I believe it is that stream of living water that we see mirrored in ezekial and revelation.

Jesus meant that the world thirst for His word, but they either haven't heard it, or they have obstacles [like opressiove governments] in their way preventing them from hearing it. He is telling His followers to out and spread the gospel by bearing witness to Him, by living holy lives and being role models for all to see and imitate.

He is speaking of the good news of eternal life which we have in ourselves by the power of God. As we go through life ,walking with the Lord, we are able to give this life to others by our words and actions.
