Some vitamins are water soluble and your body will wash out the excess. Vitamins like A, E, K are not and will build up in your body and you can 'O.D.' on them. Do not take more than the recommended doses of E.
Research either on line or talk to a doc/pharmacist about the proper dosages of vitamins. If you eat properly, you won't have to bulk up on vitamin pills.

It's not possible to overdose on Vitamin C because you just pee out the excess that your body doesn't need.
I know that for some vitamins if you take too many they can be very dangerous, so be sure to be careful if you plan on taking alot of a certain type of vitamin.

Yes. I know that a surplus of B12 can have adverse effects. Usually, though, if you just take a multi-vitamin, what your body does not use just gets flushed out of your system. Follow the instructions on the bottles and you should be alright.

A,D,E,K are fat soluble vitamins and should not be taken in large doses. They do not wash out of the body like other vitamins.
