I pray for My Chemical Romance (I know, sounds stupid) But they wrote a song, it's called 'Heaven Help Us'. The song, basically is a cry for help from God. I looked up the meanings to see if my perspective was right, and the meaning was basically about his (Gerard's) unsureness about God, maybe. He's going through a tough patch in his life and is questioning the existance of God. And now for doubting, he's afraid he's going to hell. BUT, the last stanza it says "And would you pray for me. (He knows God wants him on his side)And make me say your name. (Though he doesn't want to...he's being forced into it.)And will you lay for me. (Jesus dying for him.)And make a saint of me. (Considering conforming...? He's trying to decide if he should repent and become pious.)Cause I'll give you all the nails you need. ("Go ahead Jesus, be crucified." )Cover me in gasoline again. (Aww, screw it, I'm gonna burn in hell anyway.)
I wonder, does anyone else ever pray for famous people???

That's an interesting question. Since no prayer is wasted, I would think it would go toward the benefit of the person you are praying for or it could go to someone in a similar state, such as one of their close relatives who has passed on or someone who had a similar background.

I read a fascinating book called "Get Us Out of Here!". It deals with the souls in purgatory and how they find ways to ask for prayers and Masses for their souls.

I sometimes wonder about Layne Staley, the lead singer of Alice in Chains. I had an admiration for his vocal ability/style and personality. I have prayed for his soul in the past.

There are a lot of people, some close to me, others people I only knew briefly, that I know have passed on, that I pray for from time to time.

There is nothing wrong with that. The poor souls as they are called, can pray for you as well. They are called "poor" because they cannot do anything for themselves, they are helpless and they rely on the Church Militant to offer the Sacrifice of the Mass and prayers for them.

If you're so concerned with salvation, why don't you focus on your own, rather than that of people whose inner spiritual life you can only speculate on. The less you know them, the less correct you are likely to be. Assuming that you know the state of their soul and their salvation is hubris - pride - and that's a sin.

Good idea. Something we all should do. Not just for the loved ones we know, but for our famous "loved" ones.
Yep, I will definately say a little prayer for Gerard tonight :)

Yes, I pray for famous unsaved people. And unfamous unsaved people. We all need the Lord regardless of what "world" we live in whether it be the music world, sports world, entertainment world, art world, business world, etc. We all need Him!! Keep praying for them and don't give up!
