Looked everywhere, retail parks (homebase, mfi, harveys etc etc). Googled, checked 10s of links. Nothing. All we're after is a small nice dining table - solid wood or oak veneer? 120cm max (extendable FROM 120 is OK, extendable TO 120 is not). Under £500 ideally. Suspect there arent any, but hoping someone else solved this.... Thanks!

I'd suggest looking in argos. they have drop leaf tables that are compact and also the chairs fold down and fit into the centre of the table, meaning if you only want one chair out regularly you don't have an extra three cluttering the place up!
