The catholic church promotes the idea that Mary is not a sinner.
In Luke 1:47, Mary calls God her “Savior.” Only a sinner needs a savior. The Bible states that Jesus is our redeemer (Galatians 3:13; 4:4-5; Titus 2:14; 1 Peter 1:18-19; Revelation 5:9). The “Hail, Holy Queen” calls Mary our “most gracious advocate,” but the Bible calls Jesus our Advocate to the Father (1 John 2:1) and our one Mediator (1 Timothy 2:5). The only time in Scripture that the title “Queen of Heaven” is found it is in a negative way (Jeremiah 7:17-19; 44:16-27). The whole of Scripture teaches us to pray to God alone. Never once can you find an example or admonition to pray to anyone else! The only basis for the idea of getting to God through Mary is based on the biblical story of Mary coming to Jesus to ask for his help at a wedding feast (John 2). But in light of all of the other verses, including Jesus’ own instruction on how we are to pray.

Likewise, is it appropriate to call Mary our “life” and “hope?” Again, these are terms that are used of God alone in Scripture, particularly God the Son, Jesus Christ (John 1:1-14; Colossians 3:4; 1 Timothy 1:1; Ephesians 2:12; Titus 2:13). Thus, the practice of saying the rosary goes contrary to Scripture in a number of ways. Only God can hear our prayers. Only God can answer our prayers. The Bible nowhere instructs Christians to pray through intermediaries, or to petition saints or Mary (in Heaven) for their prayers.

In the bible we are told not to have any gods before God. 1st commandment. We are told in both the new testiment that we are gods. If we pray to a departed christian are we setting a god over God.

For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus,

Seems clear we should only pray to God through His Son

Well, for the first question, the Bible says "there is none rightous, no no one" everyone who has ever walked on the face of the earth(except Jesus) has sinned. Secondly, we are supposed to pray to God the Father through our advocate Jesus Christ, no one else. All examples of prayer I found in the New Testament were to God the Father through Jesus Christ. Some great examples are: Ephesians 1:17-21& 3:14-21. I have never been to a Catholic church, so I don't know or understand what they preach, but i only believe it if I can find it in the Bible.

Mary was not a sinner she was chosen by God because she did not sin and followed Gods law and loved him, She was Blessed

The rosary is not a sin it is praying to God

Mary, the mother of Jesus, has always held a very special place in the lives of all disciples of her Son. The Scriptural basis for why Catholics pray to her can be found in the following texts:

Her importance in the lives of all Christians: Luke 1: 46-56 (Yes, from now onwards all generations will call me blessed, for the Almighty has done great things for me.)

Although it is true that Christ is the only mediator (1 Timothy 2:5), Mary’s intercessory role through her special relationship with Jesus is very clear in Scripture: John 2: 1-10; Luke 8: 19-21; John 19: 25-27; Acts 1: 14.

God Bless You

>>The catholic church promotes the idea that Mary is not a sinner.
In Luke 1:47, Mary calls God her “Savior.”<<

God is Mary's Savior. The Catholic Church teaches God SAVED Mary from both original and personal sin.

>>The whole of Scripture teaches us to pray to God alone. Never once can you find an example or admonition to pray to anyone else!<<

I've already explained to you that the word "pray" has multiple meanings in English. Catholic do not offer adoration (latria) to Mary; we ask her to pray FOR us, just like someone might ask you to pray FOR them.

"pray for one another" (James 5:16)

As a former Catholic, I applaud you for these answers. All the things you mentioned about Mary are correct.

Yes, the rosary is wrong. If I remember correctly, there are 59 beads on the rosary, 53 of them are directed at her. Here is something else. Jesus is speaking; " But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that hey shall be heard for their much speaking.: Matthew 6:7.

The use beads is older than Christianity. Both Buddists, Hindus practice this form of prayer. As well as the Muslims.

If you take into consideration, that Mary was a Jew, she lived in
the Middle East, probably had a darker complexion. How is it that she alledgedly appears in the skin tone and dress of some many other countries? Simple, that's not Mary who is appearing! She almost always appears with the baby Jesus in her arms. This places Him in a subservient role, and dependant on her. He died in the prime of His manhood and died the same way. He is no longer a child!

Many of her so called apparitions have been to younger children. The reason, they are the more easily fooled.

In the early Catholic church, the powers were so anxious to fill the seats. That they allowed pagans to bring in their old practices and idols. Remember Paul when he entered into the city of Ephesus. There was already a large body of believers in the goddess Diana. The Catholic's simply changed Diana into Mary!

She was the goddess of the moon. Have you seen that under the many pictures of Mary? Many of her titles, like Queen of Heaven, eand the others that appear in her litany. Have a basis in pagan beliefs. Many of the pagan dieties had the same titles.

Shame on the Catholic church for forcing its members to believe in this "doctrine".

Continue to follow Jesus, you will never go wrong.

you have been given many sturdy solutions, and a few absolute stinkers (from the rabid fundies, of direction). in case you relatively think of Catholics praying to Mary is this variety of huge deal, ask them in the event that they think of she would be able to grant them salvation (on the grounds that's what you're rather stressful approximately). one and all of them can help be responsive to no, salvation comes from God. At that element, your undertaking relating to the prepare would desire to be long gone. Catholics are not merely Christians, they are the unique Christians. could a Chevrolet tell a Ford that it is not an exact motor vehicle? that's what that's like while fundies, the hot little ones on the block interior the Christian international, start to get intense and amazing with Catholics and others. Catholics do not pray to Mary, they pray via her to Christ. there is no middleman. The prayer finally ends up on the wanted place. EDIT: Andy's answer made me snort..."this Mary guy or woman". as though she's somebody unimportant.

Pastor Billy says: this bigot was just begging for my answer.

1.Mary is not a sinner, there is absolutely no bible verse when understood in context can confirm that she was. Many so-called 'bible alone' Protestants attempt to make a case but always fail to prove Mary's sinful nature from bible text.

2 If the rosary is a sin than the entire gospel story is a sin simply because the rosary is the gospel story. The mysteries meditated on when saying the rosary all deal with the life of Christ and his holy family. When the rosary is prayed Catholics are directed to Jesus Christ more times in 15-30 minutes than any non-Catholic could ever hope for themselves. If you want to claim the rosary is a sin then you had better throw out your New Testament scripture as you are therefore calling it sin also. I suggest you actually learn the rosary before attacking it!

3. Praying to the Father is not prohibited by Catholicism and neither is asking others to pray for you prohibited or demanded in Catholicism. Your question has a hidden meaning why can't someone as yourself who claims to know the truth speak truthfully. You are insinuating Catholicism teaches worship of other Gods which it does not. Trinity one God is a Catholic dogma that most but not all Protestants still hold to.

because of your lack of education you are not aware the word 'pray' when used in original English or old English means simply 'to ask', 'to request' and does not mean Godly worship alone. If your theory on worship of other gods is correct than it should be easy for you to find some official document belonging to the Catholic Church proclaiming Mary part of the Trinity don't you think? I suggest you start looking at least that will get your bigotted self off yahoo answers for a very long time.
All Catholic prayer finds it's way to Jesus for he is the one mediator we believe in as our Catholic savior. Catholics rejoice in how Jesus shares everything we us, his Mother, his Church, his apostles, his prophets, his Father, the Holy Spirit, his authority, and his mediatorship as the source of all our intercessory prayer especially that of his mother Mary.

addition #1: 'The title Mother of God' I'd bet House Speaker doesn't realize all first Protestants taught Mary was this including Luther, Calvin, Zwingli. If some persons would only take the time to study the origins of this title they would agree with it also as it is used to affirm the incarnation of God and affirm the divinity of Jesus Christ. Mother of God is most accurate for Mary unless of course you refuse to accept the true nature of Jesus as God the son like the heretics who also denied this.

It's all about "Dogma" of the Catholic Religion versus the word of God.

Mary is “The Mother of God” according to "Catholic Tradition". They made this and it's not from the Word of God.

Mary is the mother of God? First, This is not talking about God coming in the flesh. It is talking about His Son Jesus coming in the flesh.

Whenever the Catholic's use the dogma or tradition is set up alongside of Scripture, it eventually is placed above Scripture and is then used to interpret Scripture.

Don't expect the Pope to warn people of the potential deception when scripture is ignored.

Catholic has developed many doctrines which cannot be remotely proven from the Bible but,"ONLY" in there man made Catechism.

+ Immaculate Mary +

Catholics believe in the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

When the angel Gabriel called Mary, "Full of grace," Mary was already full of grace.

When the angel Gabriel said, "The Lord is with you," the Lord was already with her.

The Blessed Virgin Mary was in a state of grace before she says "yes" to the angel's question and before the Holy Spirit came upon her for a different purpose.

When did Mary's state of grace begin? The Bible does not say.

Catholics believe this state of grace was with Mary since her Immaculate Conception. This means that Mary was conceived in the normal way (not like Jesus) but that she did not inherit original sin.

God prepared her for her later role as the mother of Jesus.

+ Mary and the Saints +

Catholics share the belief in the Communion of Saints with many other Christians, including the Eastern Orthodox, Anglican, Episcopal, and Methodist Churches.

The Communion of Saints is the belief where all saints are intimately related in the Body of Christ, a family. When you die and go to heaven, you do not leave this family.

Everyone in heaven or on their way to heaven are saints, you, me, my deceased grandmother, Mary the mother of Jesus, and Mother Teresa.

As part of this family, you may ask your family and friends living here on earth to pray for you. Or, you may also ask the Blessed Virgin Mary, Saint Andrew, or your deceased grandmother living in heaven to pray for you.

Prayer to saints in heaven is simple communication, not worship.

+ Mother of God, Queen of Heaven +

Mary is the mother of Jesus Christ, who is God the Son, and therefore can be addressed as the Mother of God.

This is similar to a commoner who marries a king and becomes the mother of the next king. She is entitled to the title Queen and Mother of the King even though she is not royalty.

Nobody two hundred, five hundred or a thousand years ago would have been confused about it. But this is hard for people to understand in these times where royalty and kings and queens are few and far between.

+ With love in Christ.

that did not sin was Jesus Christ!! fact...The Bible says you are
to pray to God only!! through Jesus Christ...fact!! Using symbols

To the first question - Everyone sins.. So perhaps she did need a saviour..
To the last - This is what happens when you take something said 2000+ years ago too seriously, and look too far into it.. No, If you pray to a departed person, you are not putting them before god. Humans are not Gods. And I believe the first commandment was "thou shall not worship another god" or something of he kind.. Nothing about praying and to whome.. People pray to jesus.. Do they not?
