I am an US Citizen and got married in India on Nov. 17th. I already submitted a I-130 and received a receipt on Dec. 12th. I do not want to do the K-3 because she will come as a nonimmigrant. How long will it take my wife to come to US. The closest consular in India is Mumbai. One of my frineds did the I-130 last year and it took his wife 10months. Can someone please tell me. Thank You

You sort of don't have any choice in the matter. You married her abroad, instead of marrying her in the USA. There is one form for doing it one way and another form for doing it the other. The visa you have to petition for is a K-3, not a K-1. Incidentally, as a K-1 she would also come here as a non-immigrant and then apply for adjustment of status.

Your friend's timeline is pretty average. You can expect the same sort of wait but it does depend on which service center you are assigned to. It will take a few months (most likely less than a year) to process the adjustment of status once she is here. Work permits tend to come through a bit quicker - about 3-4 months after you arrive.
