I'm from Ireland and I've had a few holidays in France but you will find the people here in Ireland a LOT more friendlier than the French. You will be made to feel very welcome. There are also plenty of things to do and see, both North and South.
Take a look on this site.... http://www.discoverireland.com/gb/

Hi. I am from Ireland. I also lived in France for 6 years and I have to say I preferred France. Ireland is expensive and with the economic boom people aren't as friendly as they used to be, although they are still friendly. It has lots of charming places to visit. It depends what you like. It has some great natural resources. Historical buildings and castles and abbeys are all over the place too. The big cities are buzzing. Dublin isn't the cleanest city on earth but the shopping is great as is the night life. Restaurants are good too. The nearby coastal towns of Howth and Dun Laoghaire are definitely worth a visit if you are in Dublin. Theatre is big too. The Abbey theatre does alot of Irish cultural plays and The Point is the place for west end musicals and rock concerts. have a good time. Transport is so-so.

ireland is fun. go to the guiness factory in dublin! it has some very pretty countryside, i would reccommend a coach tour, it will take you around all the good sites, like the west coast, there's some amazing scenery. i like it better than france but i'm biased.

No country is 'better' than another.

Without knowing your interests it's pointless anyone trying to recommend anything. Just come over and see.
