I downloaded a Windows Vista RC1 from the internet.. I know that the beta testing is over now but I want to know something. If I install this Vista RC1 on my computer and then suddenly change my mind to buy the genuine one and uninstall the RC1. Can I uninstall the RC1 like any other programs??

I also have my 'Product Recovery Disc' when I bought my Laptop. I used it when I reformat my laptop and erase all the files to restore the original like new.. So if I want to erase Vista RC1, can I use my product recovery disc to return it to XP?? and upgrade the genuine one? please expain it thoroughly.. THANKS

Hey there,

RC's are just that. There is no upgrade to the genuine version, that I have seen. I have not tried it, but in the past, RC and beta's were time bombed and/or not able to get updates after a certain period.

I would suggest that you download Virtual PC or VMware and install it on there to test it out. These are both pretty much free and are able to handle running Vista in a virtual world.

Good luck my friend.

Tom

to position in abode windows Vista, you would only favor to purchase this technique. Vista is more suitable constructive than XP once you evaluate safe practices. notwithstanding, Vista takes up many gigabytes only in this (shadow copies can take in a lot priceless area, earlier I edited it it took up 15 gigs). i'd advise no longer procuring abode windows vista. It has many insects that were neglected, and in a lot of methods is worse than its predecessor, XP. i'd wait till after October 22, even as abode windows 7 is released, and observe its comments. i'm sorry if this isn't the style of answer you're searching for, yet my pc got here with Vista already put in onto it, and that i favor I had abode windows XP, in my opinion. i trust earlier you're making any huge replace on your pc you should sstudy the data. only google it, otherwise you would make an excellent, severe priced mistake.

You cannot simply uninstall the RC1. You have to do a full operating system reinstall. Your recovery disks should work fine.

u can not downgrade from vista to xp
u will have to do a clean install
boot from cd upon restart
u will have to select destructive mode (advanced)
u will have to delete the partition vista is in
create new partition for xp
now continue installing

if u created a back up yourself then all u do is insert disc 1
it will reformat hard drive to original state and copy all files..it will ask for disc 2 to continue set up...
the best way to do it from now on is to create a seperate partition
that way u can boot from whatever one u want to
