After one year, my ex called me...?

Guys what are some reasons as to why you stay friends or "hang-out" with an ex? My ex dumped me a year ago, yet last week he called me and asked me to go see a movie with him. I went, then he took me home after the movie. On the drive home, when I asked him why he wanted to see me, he said that he wants to see me every once in awhile. By the way, we never had sex cuz he knew that I wanna save myself for marriage. So what does he REALLY want? It seems like he wants to be friends with me BUT we only dated for one month and he ended it one year ago!!!? He’s 26 in grad school and has much more experience than me while I’m 21 in university and he knows that he was my first boyfriend and first kiss. Could it be that he respects me and just wants to be friends with a pretty virgin girl since I doubt he knows any girls like me haha. So why does my ex wanna stay in contact?

I'm not a guy, but from observing similar situations, he may like the challenge. He also may find that he respects you as a person because you are young and have morals that you don't compromise for anyone else. He's also older and from my guess he's ready to settle down and is realizing that he should've stuck around with you much longer than he did. I don't see why you can't have a friendship though. If he starts to show an interest in you again, ask him what he expects from the friendship, then go from there. Hanging out CAN BE totally harmless, so try not to overreact : ) Good luck!

Way too much info---either you want to remain friends or you do not--it is that simple- As a college student, you better concentrate on your school work..See him on your terms when YOU have time. Do not drop every time he calls--gives a bad message. say no once in a while and do not allow him to nag the crap out of you. Say goodbye, we will talk again soon--then hang up. En ex is an ex and he needs to move on---not play with your emotions---get a grip and don't give him too much of your time. I'll bet mister smooth will try to talk you into casual sex---friends with benefits---that is wrong and disrespectful. Make the rules and stand by them . Good luck in school.

Could be since you were never intimate sexually, that he realized after time that you were a neat person and he wants to remain friends! Guys do NOT talk about dating virgins unless it is in the plans to change that about you - it would make your ex look like "nice guy sissy" if he told the "guys" you were a virgin and he liked you anyway. I'm curious why YOU would want to hang out with him since he dumped you! If it were me, I doubt I would want to trust a guy who dumped me. He had his chance and gave it up!

I think you are right. He knows you are a good woman and likes but he wants to keep you around so maybe later he can get closer to you. But for now he is probably having sex with other girls but likes you. Just use common sense with this one.
