A good idea! Let people duel it out with dull sticks.

It's still very much alive, I'm afraid. Just ask any member of the police force in Brent, which had the highest incident of gun-crime last year in UK, allegedly.

"Throwing down the gauntlet" in the metaphorical sense - like betting with your belongings, or settting a difficult challenge - would be better.

Having a fight that's fair and square which would be the absolute end of the matter is a much neater solution to killing.

Or a slot on the Trisha show would also be more acceptable.

they have in gang culture.....in a bastardized form......disrespect is a big issue in gang culture

rudeness or disrespect depends on whom interrupts the event.......and their context

we live in a very busy world with information overload....some acquaintance i have professionally are terrible conversationalist...they are into themselves....or windbags who repeat themselves to make a point....or demand to much attention

it is not my fault they have bad social skills...but professionally i must deal with them.....i an curt with those who waste my time....and give feedback why.....some take it badly....but if someone does not offer feedback....then you allow them to hurt themselves and their careers professionally..better to respect a peer with feedback and tell them the truth and go into a better relationship......people ignore when they do not care!!

i also engage in politics and nothing is worse than people arguing a position then denying the other side a legitimate hearing when the principals are the same

i am for legalized drugs..i had a heated discussion with another pro person who felt is was wrong to respect the same principal for a gun owner. Both side to me say...were adults. we have free will, that the product is not the problem but what individuals users do.......most people handle life moderately...but every group have a small group of excess individuals ......agenda turn me off.....principals are more honest...these two had more in common then differences in the principals they both offered for their argument for non government interference....

my fav truth teller, disrespecter was Winston Churchill he went verbally after Hitler then Stalin, upsetting opponents, his own party, his own government, and wartime allies....he told it like it was...... when most of the world choose to ignore these two, yet he was always truthful and respectful with the public,,,,in his profession he could of gone along and been peer respectful...or a royal pain to most and honest with the public!!!

Don't be ridiculous. And what level of disrespect do you mean? Someone splilling your pint, bumping into you, looking at you "funny"?
How would being able to kill someone first actually resolve anything, except the argument can no longer continue, of course?

Bring it back? Did it ever go away? What about all the killings between gang members? Nothing more than crude dueling.

No, it would only leave a lot of dead men in ffields. Then there are those people who are always looking for a fight and would challenge people to duels almost everyday.

Yes, and it would produce a much needed decrease in the "stupid" population.
