Actually, yes. Certain people need certain religions in order to feel good or express themselves. Also, some people need to be kept in line - even if their religion is based on fear. And some people, like myself, don't need any religion at all but accept them all. :)
And as a side note, I don't believe war started over religion - I think it's just backed by religious folk.

Absolutely NOT. It's never a good thing to stultify ones mind and personal growth with a set of rules and laws set down 2000 or so years ago. Religion is a cop out - it gives people the luxury of not having to blame their problems on themselves and their own behaviour by saying "Well, I'm saved so it's okay" or "It's God's will." Anyone can do anything they set their minds to without using the God crutch. Like me - I was an alchoholic for years. One day I realized I had a problem and I just stopped drinking. Didn't need God or AA for that. No God forced me to drink, or helped me stop. I agree it's good to live here where we can make our choices, but at the same time it sickens me that the Christian right in this country has the power it has.

Actually, no. Because every benefit for humankind - a moral code, an answer to the big questions of life - is answered outside of religion, then religion only adds bad things. As a clever man once said, whether there was religion or not, good people would do good things, and bad people would do bad things. But for good people to do bad things, that takes religion.

I do not belief religion is a good thing, in history and now to many people have been and are being killed in the name of religion. A very good book to learn more is from Richard Hawkins, it is "The God Delusion"

I disagree. I also think you're lying about being an Atheist. The christians mind is so retarded, it can easily be spottedHaving freedom of religion is one of the things that keeps this country strong. Religion isn't helping anything.
Having freedom of religion protects atheists from religious nut cases. If everyone was an Atheist. We wouldn't need freedom of religion because it wouldn' even exist.

Considering most wars are started at least partly because of religion, no I really don't. I do like some of the ethics from religion. But I really don't see religion as a necessary component.

An imaginary God is good. Most people who believe in God, believe that they are believing in a real one, but if they eventually recognize it's imaginary, there's no harm done.
People who want to be bad will find other reasons to be bad, and people who want to be good will find other reasons to be good; religion is just an excuse; it isn't inherently good or bad.
My cousin Judy kept admonishing me and saying that belief is important, and I finally agreed with her and told her if belief is needed then it's important -- whether it's true or not.

Religion is bad. Faith is bad. Freedom to believe in what you believe is good.

no its not. so many races with so many ideas of why we here. humans are naturally defensive when it comes to something personal. even if it is only created to give all this madness a reason. all it ever accomplished was war and lies and reasons for some of the worst atrocities to happen. religion has created the perfect basis for the end.
