Pate usually contains a lot of fat so its best not to eat too much. But it really depends on what type of pate it is. Liver pate will contain lots of iron.

Er, Chris P, get a life, and a recipe book. We are talking pate, not McKings cheapie hamburgers! Pate is made from chicken, duck or goose livers (you can use calf's liver, but anything else is inadvisable) blended and cooked in a bain marie. As to vitamins etc., sorry, but I cook and eat what I like, without too much regard for vitamins. Certainly, liver will be rich in iron, other vitamins and minerals I cannot vouch for. As for being bad for you...like everything else, if you eat too much in one go it can make you feel ill. However, I have been eating pate regularly for...er...rather more years than I care to admit to, with no perceptible ill effects.

mostly just iron, but actually liver pate can contain lot of vitamins, such as vitamin A, certain B vitamins, Vitamin D and vitamin K. the liver is so high in vitamins because the liver is what processes vitamins in an animal.

It contains either vitamin A or E sorry I can't remeber which but it is definatly one of those two. Whichever one it contains is very very bad for you if you are pregnant but I dont think it is harmful in large quantities otherwise. However even if you are trying to increse your weight, the amount of fat pate contains is very bad for you

Pate' is made mostly of Liver of either pork or beef, but mostly pork, its a solid source of protein but has a high fat content, unlike say Tuna fish that has extremely high protein an almost none existent fat. But I'd take anything with moderation.
