I have been trying to find my Cherokee ancestors on the rolls and in my search I keep getting on alot of sites that talk about proving it with a DNA test. Is that enough proof to get a CDIB card? As far as I can tell the roll number would be with my Great Grandmother or earlier.

Has anyone had a Native American DNA test done before?

Hey Diane,

You can prove you are Cherokee with DNA, however, like most genealogical acceptance, you need documentation through the pedigree to prove your line. So, to get the Certificate of Degree of Indian Blood card (CDIB card) will require your connection to your Great Grandmother, and provide her roll number. Here is the Cherokee Heritage write up on CDIB.
