I have a top round (London Broil) My grill is not working, how do I cook it in the oven? Last time I cooked it in the oven, it came out like leather :) Thanks in advance. (If it matters, I have marinated it in italian dressing)

If you want it to come out somewhat tender...you are going to have to broil it...When you broil cuts of beef leave the oven door open a crack to keep the broiler high(if its an electric oven).
The other thing is...you cant over cook it. Rare to medium rare for London broil is best. When its finished cut it in extremely thin slices. The marinate will help with flavor but doesn't really help to tenderize it. Just be sure that the broiler is set on high and when its sizzling turn it over til the other side is sizzling too. It will smoke up your house a bit...but its worth it.

If I am right, for a London broil you need Top Round Roast not steaks. Then you have to marinate it in a marinade of your choice before grilling or cooking the way you want.

I put mine in a big casserole dish with a lid that goes in the oven.I season my roast( loudon broil, eye round) your choice.I buy a pack of Lipton's onion soup mix, take both pack mix them water. (Not necessary but good I take (2) tablespoon fulls of bacon grease and add in the casserole dish.)then cover roast with your Lipton onion mix almost till it's completely covered..I also make sure and use frozen roast. Then I put lid on cook on 250 for 3hours , then turn oven up to 350 then cook for 4 hours and you will have the most Delicious , tender roast around.P.S.When you get ready to turn roast up to 350 make sure the liquid level is back were it started and keep it there.Hmmmm good.P.S. if you want gravy receipt for my gravy let me know.I make it out of the roast juices.

Use the broiler rather than the oven.

Pretend it's on the grill, just the flame is above.

I like mine rare, so just about 5 min per side. More for well done.

Tenderize it with a fork. Lots of hole will break the connective tissues that make it tough. After the holes are poked, then marinate. The holes will allow the marinate to do it's job that much more effectively.

I do not know, sounds complicated. I usually boil my meats until they get soft and break apart. You can try that.
