Hi there...some cats are natural talkers whereas others are very quiet and seldomly meow. Like humans some people can talk a lot and others rarely do unless necessary. Your cat is perfectly normal and just happens to be a quiet boy, but only meows when he feels it's necessary.

I don't thing there is a correct answer to that one. I have 8 cats. Some are very quiet, will purr, but never meow. On the other hand some of them never shut up. In my house, somedays you don't dare say hi to the vocal ones because they will meow your head off! You don't have to worry about your cat this is normal.

Cats in the wild hardly ever meow. House cats only do it because they see there humans vocalize and want to be part of the family. So don't worry, he may come around with lots of love, or just be a quiet kitty.

I have a cat like that! He rarely meows and when he does he sounds like an old man coughing. I dont think anything is wrong with him. Some cats are like that. If he acts sick you should take him to a vet though. The real question is, can he purr? Our cat doesnt meow a lot but when he purrs it is loud and strong!

There probably isn't anything wrong with him. One of my cats only meows if she has a reason to, but my other cat meow's his head off. It's just the difference in personalities.

A meow is actually 2 things....the ME part says I am friendly and the OW part says he/she is willing defend themselves. Cats hardly ever meow at other cats. If you want to test him start feeding him wet food 1st thing in the morning-after several days stop. More than likely he will meow your ears off begging for food.

It's normal. I had a cat who was born in my house and I owned him for about 6 years and he never meowed, although his mother was a big meower. Cats are like humans, some never shut up, some are impossible to get going.

Cats are just shy, especially if they have had a rough past. Try to find some cat friends for him, and maybe he'll get some courage to speak up.

You have to spend lots of time with it.It has to get to know you better. It went through a very bad experience and its still a little shocked.Give it time and when time comes through it will be good as new.Its probably just shy and wary of others after that.

Some Cats just aren't vocal. If he's always been like this it's normal.
