i wouldnt as of yet define China as a super power. to become a super power they would need to make an impact on global politics (which they can do) and also be able to project there military power around the world (which they cant do)

the Chinesse military has the most people (2 million and change) i think second is the USA. there navy has no bigger ship then a cruiser. no capital ships what so ever (carriers, battleships) they cant project that power they have over the world. the united states has the most suffistcated airforce in the world, also arguably the strongest. also with our fleet assets do you suppose the chinesse could ever try to invade the united states?

to even think of launching nuclear missles is an idiotic idea at best. there is a term for nuclear warfare MAD (mutally assured destruction) the resultant nuclear holocaust between the two nations would polute the air water and ground with radation (even with the so called "clean nukes" we have) also you can not launch a "surprise" nuclear attack. due to ballistics of missle launches it would take 20-40 minutes for them to hit (ICBM) not sure on the time for sub launched missles

also the Chinesse goverment slowly is becoming more capitalist they want there people to be more prosperous and there economy to boom. but to this they will need to better educate there population and once that is done will the population really like the form of goverment they have?

as for us ending up communist, i doubt that would ever happen, arguably communism has failed the test of time. it is no longer a threat with the fall of the soviet union

That is extremely racist. Although the population is large, there is a law that each family can only have one child. The only reason they are ahead of the other countries is because they set higher standards. Learning Mandarin Chinese increases learning ability and makes it easier to learn different languages. Multiplication is learned at an early age, so the brain absorbs more while it is easiest to do so. I cannot believe you would be so unbelievably cruel to suggest we should 'nuke em to trim a couple of millions'. Every soul in that country means something to someone and will eventually make a difference in the world, no matter how small. Besides the fact that they may look different and speak a different language, they are exactly like you.

China has no intention of taking over the United Statesian position in the world as the world's Super Power.

Think about it for a moment. Doing so would mean that they would have to be engaged in every corner of the world defending this way of life. They would spend billions of dollars in the military and who knows how many lives, and what for? They have nothing to gain while WE are maintaining the world order and we are spending the money and we are losing lives. While they simply reap the benefits of our efforts. They want to get big, but they don't want to take over, not while we maintain the status quo where they win and we lose.

The US owes China $1 trillion dollars (1/3 of the National debt). China is hardly likely to start a war and risk losing that investment!

The economics of a war would lead to a depression across the world far worse than what happened in the 1930's

Sweet dreams!

Superpower in terms of economic. I have been in China this recent years, I was surprised to see the economic boom. From Shenzen, Guangzhou, Xiamen, Beijing, Shanghai, etc. I have seen ten of thousands of buildings (20 storeys and up)simultaneously constructing. Never in my life, I have seen such a big boom in economy. In terms of military and defense system, I believe they are superpower, too. They could defend their country against invaders or leftist group. But they are in no way, using their military power to interfere other countries internal affair.

China has not intention of starting a war unless North Korea really makes them upset. In fact, for a while when China was thinking about invading Taiwan we decided to do a military exercise that involved two aircraft carriers and one of the carriers was positioned between Taiwan and China.

No, let them try to take over the world, we have enough nukes to blow up China in 20 mins, but either way we have a stronger economy and military, not to mention a much more loyal populace, and plenty of allies, but I suppose the last one is up for debate.

Why the heck would they do that? There's no reason to...and the US could've done the same thing, but they haven't. THEY AREN'T GOING TO BLOW UP THE WORLD. No war is going to result JUST because someone is "better" than the US.
