My husband and I are looking to get a new puppy within the next year or so. Currently, we have a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retreiver, which I had before the marraige. While he loves our Toller, he wanted a different type this time. He has fallen in love with Brittany Spaniels. From everything I have read online, and the limited transactions with them at dogs shows, I've found that they are increbility similar to my Toller. Does anyone have any experience with Brittany's? Any good/bad thingst o share, that wouldn't commonly be found online?
Bad qualities found so far: submissive peeing, increbile need for excersize and mental stimulation, and seperation anxiety. Seeing that my toller also has two of these three (the latter), I'm jsut wondering if there is anything else I should be warned of? Any input is great, thanks!

Brittanys are wonderful. They have lots and lots and lots of energy and need a fenced in yard. I would not recconmend an invisible fence. Some will even climb chain link fences. Once trained they will stay close to you. The need lots of love. They are smart sometimes too smart and very fast learners. Great bird dogs. My first I got from a puppy. The one I have now from American Brittany Rescue, could not be happier. Never had a problem with submissive peeing. Even the rescue who was abused dosn't pee, she will roll over and show belly but never peed. Both of mine have been house dogs and sleep on couches, chairs and beds. I found that Brittanys are solar powered. Durring the day full of energy but when the sun goes down they collaspe in a lovable heap.

i wanted a brittany spaniel but there are no breeders where we live. from what ive heard they are great dogs. they do need lots of exercise though and lots of company. also they were bred to hunt birds so they will chase birds if they have a chance.
