Use canned buttermilk biscuits. poke or cut a hole in center and fry in vegeatble oil at 350-360 degrees for just a minute or so and flip over.
For icing, mix powdered sugar and a TBS or 2 of milk and dip donuts into icing.

place on a cooling rack on top of newspaper.

These are the easiest and best homemade donuts EVER!
Buy one tube of the cheapest ready to bake biscuits you can find. Nothing fancy or layered or buttery etc etc. Just plain old rolls in a can ( in the refrigerated section).
Get a heavy deep frying pan ..add about 2 inches of veggie oil (enough so the donuts will float).
Get a wire rack or something similar to put the hot donuts on when done cooking.
Take the biscuits out of the roll.
Get a soda cap ( or water bottle cap or whatever you have handy)
Place the cap in the middle of the biscuit and press down making a hole in the biscuit.
Put the donut hole to the side ( you can fry those too!).
Let the oil get hot enough that it sizzles with a drop of water. Turn it down to medium high.
Place each donut in the pan. Fry about 30 seconds on each side (golden brown).
Viola! donuts.
To have a nice sugar glaze. Use a pie tin or something similar.
Add 2 cups confectionery sugar with about 1/4 cup milk or cream. Mix it til is has a soupy consistency.
When you remove the donut from the oil. Dip in sugar mixture on both sides . Glazed donuts!
Eat them while they are still warm.
the whole process takes about 5 to ten minutes.

lemon drop donuts

* 1/2 cup tropical fruit mix juice (I used Minute Maid, Light)
* 2 tsp baking powder
* 2 tbsp salted margarine
* 1 cup Splenda sweetener
* confectioner sugar
* 2 eggs
* 1 tbsp grated lemon rind
* 1 tsp vanilla sugar
* oil for frying

- Mix all ingredients well and drop per one tablespoon into hot oil, fry until golden brown

- Wait until donuts cooled down a bit and roll on confectioner sugars

Very Easy Potato Donuts

* 1/2 cup vegetable oil
* 8 cup flour
* 1 1/2 cup milk
* 3 cup sugar
* 5 tablespoons of baking powder
* Potatoes, peel, wash clean, boil (3 C mashed potatoes)
* 6 eggs

Mashed cooked potatoes until tender then mix sugar and mashed potatoes until consistency of paste. Add eggs and beat.

- Add vegetable oil, milk, flour and baking powder. More flour may be added if necessary.

- Place dough on a lightly floured surface and roll to 1/2-inch thickness. Cut out with floured doughnut cutter.

- Heat oil (hot) in a deep fryer

- Drop doughnuts, 2 or 3 at a time. Fry, turning once, for 3 minutes, or until golden brown, drain on paper towels or food rack.

Optional method: If you dont have doughnut cutter, try this method, when the dough is ready, take a small portion of the dough and round it nicely as big as your fist or a littler bit smaller than your fist, then using your point finger, make a small hole in the middle of the dough, nicely. Make one by one until all dough gone. Then fry the doughnuts.

we use the ready made biscuit dough the store brand usually, use a soda cap to poke a hole, fry in a pan, before you start frying mix a cup of sugar with some cinnamon, once you fry the donuts, take them and roll them in the cinnamon sugar mix, then make coffee or hot choc and enjoy!
