Okay I had to convince my parents too. Here are some things you can try:

1. Are you an only child? If so this is a great thing to use. Tell your parents that you never have anyone or anything to play with when your at home and that you find your self feeling lonely a lot. Tell them that having a dog will help you stay entertained, keep you active and not stuck in your room doing nothing. It will also help your self esteem and your outlook on life.

2. Is your family an outdoor kind of family? If so, tell them a dog would be a great addition because he can go on camping trips, hikes, walks in the park, bike rides ect. with your family.

3. Is your family Not active or ourdoor kind of family? If so, tell your parents having a dog will get you and your family up and around. You can take him on walks to the park ect. Tell them it will help keep the whole family in better shape and healthier.

4. Tell your parents that having a dog will teach you a lot about responsibility. You have to walk it, brush it, feed it, and play with it daily. Having to do this and being responsible for the well being of an animal will help you on later in life. You learn how to manage your time efficiently, how to measure food and remembering to feed your dog, making sure he is groomed daily, and that he gets enough excersise to stay healthy. These things will help you out later in life, like your job, having a family someday and even your school work.

5. Tell them your main reason to get a dog. It could be that you are lonely and need a friend/buddy to cheer you up or keep you company or anything. Just tell them your reason in a well thought out way.

6. Tell them dogs are good guard dogs. They can warn you and your family if your house is getting broken into at night or whenever. They can even tell if there is a fire in your house with out special training. Some dogs without training either, can alert you or somehow tell you that you might have cancer or a siezure and numerous things that can happen to a human unexpectedley. They are amazing animals and they may save one of your family members someday.

7. If someone in your family or your parents are allergic to dogs or they dont want shedding all over the place tell them that there are plenty of dogs to choose from that dont shed or shed hardly at all. There are even some dogs that carry less dander and what not that are good for people with allergies. Miniature shnauzers are a good example. They dont shed at all and are low maitnence with grooming.

8. If your parents dont want large dogs or small dogs because they think they have too much energy, they are wrong. A lot of little dogs have less energy than you think. You just have to do a little research on different breeds of dogs to see about their energy level.

Those are about the main reasons that I can think of. These should help convince your parents to get a dog. Once you do some research, find a dog breed that you really like and would be best for the whole family. Tell your parents why it is the best and the good things about it. If you do the research and present everything in a well thought out way, your parents will think you are really serious about getting a dog. If you break down and whine like a little kid they are definitly going to say no. If you act like a mature adult they will agree more to what you say and will think better of you. Also if you find a dog or puppy that is available and has a good price it will also help your parents because they dont have to do the searching because you already did.

I hope this helped you out. Good Luck! Bye!

P.S. Be persistant. If they say no the first time try again a few weeks later. If you stay persistant and dont give up for a very very very long time they may eventually give in like my parents. My sister and I asked for about a year and half and finnally we got our puppy. If you keep going on for a long time they will think that you really are serious about getting a dog. Good luck!

Ask yourself these questions,Are you prepared to walk the dog twice a day,30 min a walk?Brush the dog twice a day?Shampoo the dog once a week?Clean up after the dog and feed the dog everyday. Are you aware of the cost of registration,Veterinary charges.Designated areas for the dog defined by your mother. If you can show your mother that you would be responsible for most of the above it could be in your favour.

Start a small pet care center that lasts for a couple of days and when they see how well u do with other people's dogs, they will get u one. This plan is not sure fire, I have never tried it because everyone in my neighborhood doesn't just hand over their dogs, but maybe u will have better luck!!!

Having a dog takes much responsibility, I'm sure you know that. As for your parents, I don't know how u can convince them. :). Do they agree on taking the dog out, getting his shots, and all that? You can split the amount of work if it is too much for your parents...maybe someone can feed him, someone can take him for his vet visits, and someone can walk and entertain him. If you split the work amount, then it will be fun.

What kind dog do you like? I love the Goldens. I have a cat though.

To be sincere, I'm now not that a lot of a significant man or woman. SO to ship a significant query and anticipate to comply with up and skim a significant reply for me might be unnecessary. OHH oka, I bet that is the one exception. Seriously

Just show them your question - I think it says it all. You sound like a good responsible kid and would do everything necessary to care for a dog. I wish you GOOD LUCK!

Ask them to take you to an animal shelter so you can show them how lonely little dogs and puppies can be, then maybe they will let you bring one home. It's worth a try.

just persuade them. that's how i always get what i want. make a list of reasons and let them know you are desperate and ask them if there's anything you can do to make them say yes. for example, offer to do some chore or something to help them. that always works with my parents. or ask them why they won't buy you one. do they think you're not responsible enough? then prove it to them.
