Being born into a particular religion or culture does not guarantee that someone will be happy with it for life, or find the fulfilment they need. Many people stay with a religion more for the sake of family than for their own needs. They struggle and never find what they are looking for in life, because of a stigma of "disloyalty" or of "abandoning" their family's chosen faith or lifestyle. People always want others to convert TO their particular religion, but condemn anyone who converts FROM it, for whatever personal reason. It's no different from someone growing up on a steak-and-potatoes diet, and somewhere along the way deciding that a vegetarian diet would be more healthy in their particular situation. -Or deciding to move from their family home to a more hospitable climate. Life is a continuous process of change. When we stop changing, we're dead. Whether for better or worse, our views do change, and things we grew up with, including religion, eventually get seen from a different light. Remember too, that none of us freely chose our birth religions. As we get older, and begin to view everything about us from other angles, some of us actively choose to stay where we are. Others choose a different path. Neither is wrong, except from the view of some on the other side of the decision.

I didn't. I couldn't. I considered all the alternatives as an adult and decided for myself there wasn't anything better or more real or more satisfying than people who actually live right and worship the Lord in Spirit and in truth and practice and teach sound doctrines. I don't agree with my chosen affiliation on everything but there's nothing else that compared even close. The others seemed either fake or dry as a bone spiritually and worst of all you couldn't ever hear anyone praying or feel the spirit when they prayed and it was silent unless it was the preacher dictating the prayer aloud for them like it was pledge of allegiance or a funeral or wedding. The other extreme was such a careless live-like-you-want, dress-like-you-will and let's-just-have-fun kind of atmosphere where there was no real consecration of lives or spiritual depth there. So, I came back to that which I knew was real and had witnessed lived out righteously before me in true love that is not something you can deny or keep from feeling as genuine unfeigned love. Quite a rarity these days when the love of many is waxing cold. It's worth paying the price of living separated from the world and hearing and seeing the testimonies of real miracles in lives.

For a very simple reason------they cannot accept the birth religion as being true. They find a religion that they feel is more meaningful to them.

Because the other religion makes them happier.

Because they find a better one, one that fits them more. When you are a little kid you don't get to pick your religion, your parents do.

No one is born with religious beliefs.

They get indoctrinated later on, and then later still some people learn to think for themselves.
