it could be HIV, which depletes your immune system.

Are you in your late teens? If so, it could be glandular fever. It's very common in teenagers. I had that for about 18 months when I was 17. I would get better then after three weeks or so, I'd be ill again - very sore throat (so sore that it bled), very tired, vomiting, high temperature, headache, runny nose. It's a virus so antibiotics will not help. They will help any bacterial infections that you get from having a weakended immune system, but in the long run, they'll leave your own defences weakened. A doctor can do a blood test to check for glandular fever.

Might sound a bit cranky, but it may be something in your environment or that you are eating which doesn't agree with you. May be not general cold but a type of rhinitus? You could try droping one of the more common food types which may cause sensitivity for a couple of weeks and see how you feel. The most common ones are wheat (so no bread/pastrypasta) there are loads of wheat free alternatives to this so no real hardship. Then see if you notice a difference. If not go back on but this time drop dairy, so no milk, cheese, butter etc. Again loads of alternatives (Oatly with calcium tastes nicer than soya on cereal). Just for a few weeks should be long enough to see if you feel more energetic and brighter.

U are right to book in with the doctor, it may be something simple like an allergy or u are deficient in something that is affecting ur immune system and need supplements.
Its probably nothing to worry about but worth getting checked out, i dont think anyone on here can give u the advice u need as they dont know your lifestyle, medical history and other factors that may affect your health.
Keep your appointment x
Just read what dave h wrote and o my god! no one here can tell u that u may have a serious illness like that by just reading a question!! see ur doctor and wait to hear what he says nobody here can give u a diagnosis so dont worry yourself just see ur doctor

Are you neglecting your diet - eat plenty of fresh fruit and veg. Are you eating a well balanced diet?

Are you underweight? Eat more good food. I always use to find if I was under 8 stone I would get more colds than if I was over 8 stone.

Are you a smoker? Could the symptoms be an allergic reaction to something (cats? birds? dust?)

Eating Garlic, onions and ginger are all good cold remedies add to your cooking or eat raw.

Good idea to see you doctor, do tell him/her how long this has been going on for and elaborate on your symptoms, when you think it might be worse, day time, evening, winter, summer etc.
Do you notice an improvement when you go away on holiday etc.

May be you are not eating right. Get healthy by eating the right food good girl. If it is a sore throat you have - try out some home remedies. Sore throat is usually due to a viral infection . Gargling with warm salty water or mouthwash can reduce the pain and inconvenience. More details and home remedies available at http://ailments.in/sorethroat.html

How old are you? Where do you work?

If you work with or are frequently around vulnerable people (children, elderly, ill) you might get illnesses more frequently especially after you just have an illness - so they seem never to go away. Don't know what the doc would suggest for that!

You sure it's not an allergy or hayfever?

You will probably be asked to keep some kind of diary of what you are doing - to see if something triggers it.

Hi Rachel,I work as a doctor,AND I am new to this site so please give me a best answer to help me ascend to level2!!

Good you made an appointment with your doctor,so go!
There are many reasons why people suffer from recurring viruses mainly due to a suppressed immune system.

A visit to the doctor will exclude any serious illnesses and hopefully indicate whats triggering your situation. As a doctor, ethically and professionally I must suggest u see a doctor as I cannot diagnose or discount any possibilities based solely on your question, a routine check-up is needed.

Allergies can cause a reduction in ones immune system as the body is forced to work harder to eradicate allergens or intolerable foods.

Dental hygiene or lack thereof can be a contributing factor to ill-health. Long term or chronic conditions, inflammations or infections..asthma,sinus,poor teeth, tonsilitis so on can all leak toxins into the body.
So can working with certain chemicals,paints..

Smoking,drinking,drug abuse,some prescribed medications..all hard on body

Lack of sleep,or poor quality sleep.

Poor diet,deficient in vitamins,minerals,protein.

Stress,mental illness,depression,boredom.

Lack of fresh air, sunlight or conversly too much sunbathing

Damp,dirty living conditions,cold,dusty,mouldy,damp.

Amalgam (metal) fillings in teeth

Environment,smog,smoky work or living areas

Post-operative complications

Pregnancy,post pregnancy year

Imbalance of intestinal or gut flora..ie 'good' bacteria.

Underlying illness

Lack of exercise.

Long term viral infections,chronic fatigue

Generally people find if you live in a warm, dry, clean and fresh aired environment, eat a healthy balanced diet, take regular exercise things will improve
AGAIN I MUST INSIST ON THE VISIT TO YOUR LOCAL DOCTOR.please post in fact tomorrow night that u have done so and are feeling happier and relieved as Im sure you will be.
Good luck Rachel

Ok, what you're doing right now is good, and what will help more is exercise, and stay away from junky foods. No doctor will tell you to go away, as it would be just like saying a person with cancer got told to go away by their doctor. That's what doctors are there for- to help a person in need. You might have some sort of condition, and your doctor may be able to prescribe a medication to clear you up. Don't worry. Good luck, and I hope you get better soon!

I could go back on your docs and ask for a 2d opinion, as you do not imagine that that's psychological. it might nicely be continual fatigue syndrome. a variety of of people imagine that this does no longer exist notwithstanding it does. keep pushing your health care professional till you sense that they have got a cope with on why you're suffering this manner there are various more suitable checks that they could carry out, yet in case you do not go back on your docs they're going to imagine that you're more suitable constructive and do not favor anymore help off them. in case you do not go back to them they couldn't examine your concepts. they gained't imagine you're complaining over no longer some thing and could favor that could assist you yet you should ask! do not sense stupid it isn't astounding to sense sick, and docs are in trouble-free words human and do not always score a bulls eye first time round. good success

Ask your doctor about an exercise routine. Regular exercise, such as walking three times a week, may reduce neuropathy pain, improve your muscle strength and help control blood sugar levels. Gentle routines such as yoga and tai chi might also help.
