Most Bible stories are not true in the sense that they "happened as written"
For instance, that whole Noah thing? Well the Babylonian story of Gilgamesh (circa 2000 B.C.E.) has a very similar event (in fact many cultures that lived near water sources have a similar flood story, go figure - see 1st link).
The fact is that most of the Bible is just a retelling of earlier myths (see 2nd link) and so are not meant to be historical with respect to specifics.
But this is not a bad thing per se, Myths give good insight to the cultures that used them, and to that end are a very true representation of the guidelines and justifications for much of what they believed (see 3rd link)

Its basically a morality tale. And the parts of it that are based on truth were written years after the actual event and no one knows what actually happened or was said. All the sayings attributed to Jesus probably are just made up because the stories were written years after his supposed death - which may not have even happened. As a matter of fact, most of what Jesus supposedly said can be found in other ancient texts.
And how about the story of Noah and the flood? Has anyone ever heard of the Sumerian tale of Gilgamesh which is basically the same story?
And its been scientifically proven that Jesus was born around 4-6 BC and Herod wasn't even the ruler at the time!! The so-called "wise men" were probably astrologers and when - and if - they did find Jesus he was around 6-7 years old. So much for that charming manger story.
Recent excavations have shown that the Soddam and Gomorrah story in the Old Testament was probably the result of a volcanic eruption and an earthquake. So much for God-inspired fire and brimstone!!
And let's not forget all the stuff about the stars in the heavens falling that one finds in Revelations. If one star fell, that would wipe out the entire solar system. Its scientifically impossible.
The list is endless. Its just a collection of charming stories and some not so charming, designed to get people to accept Jewish teachings of the time.

The Bible's accuracy and reliability have been proved and verified over and over again by archaeological finds produced by both believing and nonbelieving scholars and scientists. This included verification for numerous customs, places, names, and events mentioned in the Bible.
One among many examples is the fact that for many years the existence of the Hittites (a powerful people who lived during the time of Abraham) was questioned because no archaeological digs had uncovered anything about them. Critics claimed the Hittites were pure myth. But today the critics are silenced. Abundant archaeological evidence for the existence of the Hittites during the time of Abraham has been uncovered.
Bible scholar Donald J. Wiseman notes, "The geography of Bible lands and visible remains of antiquity were gradually recorded until today more than 23,000 sites within this region and dating to Old Testament times, in their broadest sense, have been located." Nelson Glueck, a specialist in ancient literature, did an exhaustive study and concluded: "It can be stated categorically that no archaeological discovery has ever controverted a biblical reference." Well-known scholar William F. Albright, following a comprehensive study, wrote: "Discovery after discovery has established the accuracy of innumerable details, and has brought increased recognition of the value of the Bible as a source of History."
There are more than 24,000 partial and complete manuscript copies of the New Testament. These manuscript copies are very ancient and they are available for inspection NOW. there are also some 86,000 quotations from the early church fathers and several thousand lectionaries (church-service books containing Scripture quotations used in the early centuries of Christianity). In fact, there are enough quotations from the early church fathers that even if we did not have a single copy of the Bible, scholars could still reconstruct all but 11 verses of the entire New Testament from material written within 150 to 200 years from the time of Christ. Bottom line: The New Testament has an overwhelming amount of evidence supporting its reliability.

Every line.
Here is a quote to think about.
C.S. Lewis a professor at Oxford (Who was converted to Christianity by J.R.R. Tolkien, also a prof. at Oxford) wrote many books such as Mere Chrisitianity" can be summarized best by these quotes (there are better but these sum it up):
"100 per cent of us die, and the percentage cannot be increased. "
"Christ died for men precisely because men are not worth dying for; to make them worth it."
"If I had no other data than the early chapters of Genesis, some of the Psalms and other passages of Scripture, I would have arrived at essentially the same picture of the origin of the universe, as is indicated by the scientific data." Nobel Prize-winning physicist Arno Penzias (Big Bang Theorist)
"The principle of [divine] purpose ... stares the biologist in the face wherever he looks ... . The probability for such an event as the origin of DNA molecules to have occurred by sheer chance is just too small to be seriously considered ... ."Ernst Boris Chain - Nobel Prize in medicine

thanks Laura. Jehovah's Witnesses do not deny the fact. the total international has been doing that. Jesus prayed those words to His Father.......(John 17:3) this suggests eternal existence, their taking in knowledge of YOU, the purely real God, AND of the only whom you despatched forth, Jesus Christ. who's the 'purely real God' that He changed into praying to in this account? All respected Bibles will inform you at Psalm 80 3:18 and different places that it is JEHOVAH (in English). the international won't be able to deny this to any extent further because the fact has been preached in each and each and every of the inhabited earth.

The Bible is a selection of ancient middle eastern tales and legends. It is a work of fiction.
The selection was made under the supervision of a pagan roman emperor during the 4th century AD. The idea was to build an efficient religion to allow a few men to dominate many.

It's the truest Book ever written.Whether or not you accept the Lord is a personal decision that you have to make. If you are that dead set against it , it would be a waste of time to ask you now. Have a nice day.

The Bible is a mixture of some history and large portion of myth. Many people find it comforting to believe that there is more to life than just life.
