worrying if I should get up now and take a pee or try to fall asleep and see how long I can last

Everyone is different there are those that believe that insomnia is just a problem like allergies (not stemming from emotional problems) However IF the problem persists I strongly believe that You are suffering from some degree of anxiety It doesn't have to be sever It could just be temporary pressure (school,Relationships ....) Its very frustrating as the more you think about trying to fall asleep the harder it is as you are not relaxing..
I should note that there are people who have a hard time falling asleep because they have trouble breathing which makes it difficult for the body to relax. In any case if this problem persists you should discuss it with a health professional

The fear of going to sleep and having a hellish nightmare after watching a horror movie or witnessing something scary. Yeah, pretty much. Other than that, I sleep like a baby, calm and good.

The fear of my brain not shutting up. I cant stop it from analyzing everything to death and it carries over into my dreams.
