what was the forbidden fruit in Garden of Eden?

I know the passed down story and accounts of it being an apple are inaccurate but I dont recall what the fruit was?

I don't know, the Garden of Eden was in the Middle East, probably modern day Iraq/Iran, so it may have been some sort of fruit that is common over there. I always heard it was an apple too., I'll do some Bible study and see if I can get an answer for you.

It was fruit from the tree of Knowledge of good and evil found in the middle of the Garden of Eden. Genesis 3.

The Bible does not say what kind of fruit it was, just that it came from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. No actual fruit was ever mentioned.

Genesis 3:6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

It had to be a mouth watering beautiful fruit that was very desirable and hard to resist, according to this scripture. But we are focusing on the fruit instead of the fact that it wasn't about the fruit as much as it was about disobeying God's Word.
