How do you come to know, presume or interpret, the infinite word of God that man’s finite wisdom has placed into scrolls ?

Are not holy men charlatans pretending to know the word ?
How can the word written by mortal hands be presumed to be God's words ?

Serious answers please.

Appologies to all the contributors whose question was removed without grounds by the typical cheerless YA.

Perhaps there's a need to distinguish between collation, translation, and interpretation because that is the order of events and there's controversy about all three!

The collection and preservation of the Hebrew scriptures (Old Testament to Christians) was done by the scribes and Pharisees; they also copied the scrolls meticulously, with a zeal for accuracy that is astonishing. They believed that changing one letter, or one dot, would change the universe - for the worst. For what's known as the (Christian) Greek scriptures (or New Testament) immense care was also exercised and, like the cannon of the O.T., it took centuries to close the cannon of the N.T.

But difficulties arise mainly with matters of translation. The translation of the Hebrew into the Septuagint is not disputed, however. There are more problems with the N.T. And you are correct to ask whether holy men are charlatans. SOME of them clearly are, (never mind 'were'). As with any other discipline in life, we have to trust the integrity of specialists, and the general concensus. It is not, however, infallible. Yet when we learn of how many of those handling the Word of God laid down their lives for its preservation, we have to acknowledge they could not have been charlatans. And multitudes of 'ordinary' believers likewise died horrible deaths rather than renounce God or Christ. They were not charlatans.

Finally, interpretation, and here you can have a field day. This is where the REAL difficulties arise and charlatans abound. All is not lost, however. God, in his Word, promised to send the Holy Spirit to lead believers into all truth. Whilst charlatans use this as a charter for utter abandon, those who sincerely seek God can recognise the still, small voice of God in the quietness of his presence and peace. Those who humble themselves under the mighty hand of God have his protection and leading. I don't expect you to be impressed by that, but it is the simple truth.

Look in Daniel and Revelations and you will find prophecies that predict over a thousand years in advance what is going to happen down to the season. Do you not think a God that can create a man could also tell that man what to write down and how to interpret it so he can know what is coming in the future? If I tell you the words to write and I made you and programmed you, don't you think I would know how to get you to write what i want written by you? How much more with God that knows the beginning from the end. There are prophecies that tell the name of the king that will be in power a thousand years before he was born. Sounds like the one that wrote that had to get some help from somewhere or he could not have been so accurate.

It is my belief, as a Christian Pastor, that the BIBLE is the inspried Word of GOD as recorded by man.

It`s just a book, God had nothing to do with it - even the bits of wanton slaughter!
